Prince among The 2010 TIME 100: The World's Most Influential People It was about time:
The 2010 TIME 100: The World's Most Influential People http://www.time.com/time/...34,00.html Text by Usher: I think I was about 8 or 9 when I saw Purple Rain. I was interested in music and trying to find a model. It was Michael, or it was Prince. He had an attitude, a rawness that Michael didn't have. He was not urban, but he was our version of what cool could be. You look at an icon like James Dean or Steve McQueen — they represent a certain energy, a certain poise. That's what Prince has. Young kids are getting into Prince now, and it's because he was ahead of his time. He's timeless. He hasn't aged a bit. My second hit, "Nice and Slow," was inspired by Prince. He's had his ups and downs, but he's used his career to change the way artists are treated. Being in his presence is surreal. His energy is just so fly. He is so poised. He is the s___. He is what he called a "Sexy M.F." Usher's latest album is Raymond v. Raymond [Edited 4/29/10 7:45am]

Usher can't even write an article without sounding like a simpleton. "His energy is just so fly. He is so poised. He is the s___." Wow. Deep.

Awww, I love Usher. t4p. "I pride myself on working with great musicians, and I consider her to be as such. She's an amazing talent, the real deal." Prince on Beyoncé ♥

Lord you haters on this board are so damn corny oh do not get me wrong, lady gaga is talented, but she is far to new to make any list like this one. I have seen flash in the pans make best of list or simular lists when they are hot! but then vanish in a few years, Prince is on the list for a 30 years of music not 2 years. Let's wait 20 years and see if she is still relevant. THEN put her on these lists. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

What he does still matters - some of his moves still garner global attention (like when he shook up the music industry and ruffled many feathers by giving away Planet Earth - ok, that wasn't 2010, but its an example of how his actions are still noticed by plenty of others). He's still a maverick, even after all this time. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Gorgeous picture of Prince...
... but Usher is a moron. I do nothing professionally. I only do things for fun. johnart: Acrylic's old bras is where tits of all sizes go to frolic after they die. Tit Heaven.

musicians that are creations of record co. execs, and others who follow fads, eventually fade out; yes, Prince has covered many genres, but he has remained true to himself throughout his career; 2 me, only such musicians and artists can truly influence others...because they remain true to themselves; for this reason, though it might be frustrating at times, I have to respect Prince for producing his own sound [Edited 4/29/10 12:34pm]

love how he brought the attention onto his material "Not to sound cosmic, but I've made plans for the next 3,000 years," he says. "Before, it was only three days at a time."

Since this list was made up of votes by anyone with access to the internet and certain people that made the list were heavily lobbied for by blogs and fans, it's nothing more than an extremely ludicrous popularity poll with no actual relevance to an individual's influence on culture. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Did Prince lobby for his position? It still says that there is a certain amount of influence from that person, if they manage to make the list, even if it is votes from the GP! Prince made it with no lobbying (or none that I'm aware of), so plenty of people think he has "influence". How much it means is questionable - but, if Elton John can make the list....! ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

What an awesome photo! Looks cool as hell.
I'm not sure why he made the list this year of all years, but its cool he is getting some love by a national magazine. I wish most national magazines were a little more respectful back in the day, he sure as hell deserved it. It was mostly calling him names and put downs like "oversexed diminutive rocker" this or any pun you can think of to mock his height. I'm sure the unrelenting mocking took a toll on the man. Anyway, cool as hell to see him on there. [Edited 4/29/10 14:10pm]

Ummmmm... shouldn't this list be compiled in December?
