I I went to the Village Underground aftershow. First off it was not a 45 minute set, Prince was on stage for 2-3 songs at most. He has his back turned to the crowd ala a Miles Davis "F U People" attitute.. He is going bald, or got a really bad haircut.. Looked like a frail old man, needing help to get up on a 1 foot high stage.. Had huge bodyguard goons with him..
Ok do i sound bitter, not really as it was worth the $10 cover and trek down there, but what amazes me in such a small space, either the regular crowd didnt know he was in the house as everyone was on their freakin blackberries during the whole show until he got on stage.. Also the band seemed to be totally enjoying it as they are a house band, while with talent i doubt any of them will be breakout stars.. he played a red guitar that the house band was playing, but the lefty playing skinny white kid in the band was playing a fender Strat, blue, but it was strung lefty, probably would have been a better sound for Prince.. Also after he left the stage, he was up on his table in the VIP section, either laughing or crying inside as the house band singer did the lyrics to Ballad of Dorothy Parker while the band was playing something totally different.. strange moment.. Then the house band played Chocolate by the Time.. I was like WTF (Prince was gone at this point).. Shelby J (go away please), and Morris Hayes also sat in with the house band was Prince was on stage. Oh the stage was so small 9 musicians, that the 2 drummers had their kits set up on the "dance floor" It was cool to see, but considering the last time i saw prince he was with that talentless hack Tamar, i think the house band was an upgrade!!

Okay, so some of us were watching it online and the screen frozed a few times, so we estimated the length of time to be between 20 - 40 minutes even when Prince left the stage and his singers were still performing. Shelby J, Liv and Elisa, they have great harmony together andsounded just fine from watching it online, maybe they're just not your cup of tea bacause you sound very bitter in your reporting, but uh..thanks for sharing. Hopefully someone else was there, and can give us a report, but thanks. [Edited 5/9/10 15:08pm]

I enjoyed watching it online and Shelby, Elisa and Liz sounded pretty good. [Edited 5/5/10 6:33am]

Ooh! I missed the treat
Sounds like it was an exciting night in NYC Ah, Angel...I have fond memories of Shelby's rendition Thank you Mr. Quinton Dean does indeed seem like a mighty fine addition He has a powerful voice, and from the teaser clip, he sounds a lot like David Hinds from Steel Pulse, among others Reggae is in the house, y'all. It's coming [Edited 5/5/10 6:39am]

Well, sorry you feel that way, but it just so happened that after that gala was over, Prince showed up at the Village Underground (part of the Fat Black Pussycat venue) around 12:40am, and he, Shelby, Liz, Elisa jammed with the house band. Prince was on for about 2 to 3 songs (20 - 25 min), and left shortly afterwards. The show was streamed live, and some of us were able to watch it online. Hope this info helps a bit. There were others at the actual show, hopefully they'll show up here and give their review. There's not much info on the actual Time gala event other than the Wireimage pics that were posted around 12 am this morning on this thread, and a statement from Elton John's pic on Wireimage, that he introduced Prince on stage at the Time 100 gala. Also, the info on Dr. Funkenberry's site as well. [Edited 5/5/10 7:10am]

Before the request start popping up. This footage is not available through any official source yet. Don't ask.
If it comes up anywhere official, we'll have it here. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

Yea, considering all the prior notice from multiple official sources, the HD video and flood of news coverage, we really should have done better for you. That wasn't personal in any way, and U should know that. I don't get the "we should have done better for you" part... I'm not the only one who wants 2 know more. Last I checked, I was a part of "we". That was funny though ("multiple official sources, the HD video and flood of news coverage"). . [Edited 5/5/10 7:27am] "He's a musician's musician..."

It was orger "p4life" that alerted those of us who happened to be online, that Prince was at the Village Underground, and we would be able to watch it live, and it seems that airing their shows live online, is something that club does on a regular basis.
