Further discussion on C-NOTE

sbacon1999 posted in the news section

"Although the 2002 memberships included the albums mentioned above, this may be Prince's answer to those who thought they didn't get their money's worth for the 2002 membership...the tracks made available for download were:

Copenhagen
Nagoya
Osaka
Tokyo
Emptyroom

For those that aren't hitting their forehead yet, it spells C-NOTE. And for those of us that know, a C-NOTE is a bill, two fiddys, a hundred bucks, whateva.

One may interpret this as Prince's response to those who thought they didn't get enough for what they paid for )"

I thought I'd open it up here for discussion. It is an Interesting hypothesis.

However, he could equally have sent us soundchecks from:

Paris
I - ?
Sapporo
Stockholm

Oslo
Frankfurt
Fukuoka

But he didn’t play a gig in a city beginning with “I”

Then he thought:

Milan
Y - ?

Antwerp
Sapporo
Stockholm

With a variant set list for those speaking non US English

Milan
Y - ?

Antwerp
Rotterdam
Stockholm
Empty room

But he didn’t play a soundcheck in a city beginning with “Y”

In the end he decided on the following set list, which is now held in the vault for when we start complaining again:

Alborg
London
Las Vegas

Berlin
Antwerp
Stockholm
Tokyo
Alborg (extended jam)
Rotterdam
Dublin
Sapporo

Cool theory. I wonder if there's anything to that.

thats a cool observation. that in addition to the baby crying at the end of expectation, not to mention the names of the songs themselves seem to imply it was a response to member complaints, not intended to be released all along.

I know some people are steadfast on it blatantly meaning mani is pregnant. but i dont think prince would announce something private like that again, especially after what happened before. I think the conception motif was a metaphor for the creation of new music. he has after all refered to his songs as his children before.

when they start sending me emails about 2003, i'll come up with an acronym for "go screw yourself"
