Prince

I don't recall the exact year that I made the connection with Prince, but it was sometime in the mid- 1990's. For nearly 30 years, I've owned a booth at the Maryland Renaissance Festival, outside of Annapolis. The fair itself, runs 9 consuective weekends from late August through late October. My manager at the time, was a friend of a graphic artist who did work for Paisley Park Studios. This man purchased a sterling silver, Wave Ear Cuff from my booth and wore it back to the studios where Prince noticed it. Apparently, Prince liked it, since he sent him back to the fair the following weekend with instructions to pick up one of each of my ear cuff designs. A few months later, I got a phone call from Paisley Park Studios inquiring to the cost and production time for of 250 sterling silver Wave Ear Cuffs and 300 Moon Ear Wraps. I secured the order and delivered the goods on schedule, but it was a stressful three weeks of production. My ear cuffs were sold on Princes' web site and at their members parties. Prince and his band all wore pairs of the Moon Earwrap and Prince was featured wearing the Moon Ear Wrap on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine. Soon the studio was having me produce quanities of his Symbol in Pewter for sale both on his web site and at the concerts. Eventually, Prince requested a custom Crescent Ear Wrap design, similar in shape to the original Moon Ear Wrap. He now wears pairs of the Crescent Ear Wrap, each set with 7 CZ's. I created two custom "Blings" the year that Prince was inaugrated into the hall of fame and we hand delivered one to his wife Mayte at the Shoreline concert. She graciously thanked me and my family, shaking the hands of my son, daughter and husband; acknowledging their help in the fullfillment of the many orders. For years, when I would recieve a large order for his symbol pendants, I would hire both John and Alisha to chain and package the finished pendants. Just putting 1000 chains on 1000 symbols and slipping each into a zip lock bag takes several hours. I still get occassional calls or e-mails from Paisley Park when Prince needs a replacemt set of Crescent Ear Wraps or a custom pair of cufflinks.

I view this statement with equal parts fascination and horror eek

I'm not sure what's worse--Prince introducing those items as fashion 'trends' or the Jughead as a dance-craze. Either way, MASSIVE FAIL.

cool story - thanks for sharing...as for those who don't like them, fair enough....but some people here need to get a life.....if this doesn't interest you go to another thread....hell is it any wonder why people in 'the know' won't comment on things or share any bits of info....here we have someone who was/is commissioned to make some jewellery for Prince himself and we get disrespectful comments about how stupid they are....grow up and show some respect FFS!

You are not getting it. amerozzie is not an insider, but posted as such. He copy/pasted from the website that actually has the real backstory. Read my above post.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
