Best since SOTT, has that unmistakable 80s sound, Controversy Part II, yadda, yadda, yadda.

You totally forgot "return to form"

yeah...heard it on 3121, LF, MPLS, PE...out of those, 3121 was a great album (imo)
but the rest...didn't live up. And in fact, I don't really WANT another "unmistakbly 80s sounding" record. I want something NEW...unexpected, ahead of the curve. Something the last couple records were not.

Her post is a little confusing. Because to me "no comment" is usually reserved for 'I don't have anything good or otherwise to say about it.' Plus "We all fell on the floor" does not sound positive. More like 'we all fell on the floor laughing'. The "Can't wait it's realease" does sound a little sarcastic to me... confused I don't see how this is hype.

There is definitely something hot cooking at Paisley Park. I can't wait to hear what Prince has to say in the new Ebony Magazine. Janelle just confirmed there is some hot new music...
eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

And so the cycle starts again.

A rather throwaway comment by someone about liking the sound of Prince's next possible output sends some apoplectic with excitement, others complaining that it'll be the same old rubbish, and minds are made up before anyone has heard a thing. Some pretty much demand a "return to form or I'm finished with him", as if Prince owes us something.

Then we wait what seems like forever for Prince to actually release said music, listen to numerous rumours about it and speculate on the quality of tracks based upon something as weak as the name of the song.

Prince does his usual release method these days of giving someone a track or 2 to play. The overreaction goes into overdrive as yet again the merits of the entire album are judged upon little evidence.

Then, when we finally get the album, everyone is so burned out by this process they can't appreciate it at all. It's compared to work that's over 20 years old, and if you happen to like it you're either deluded or brainwashed according to many.

Forgive me if I just can't be bothered with it all. Seems like my attitude is one of a very small minority now - music shouldn't be about comparison, or trying to convince others of your opinion on it. You either like it or you don't, and no justification is required. I'll take this man's next album, give it a listen, and see how I feel. I've been lucky enough in that I enjoy most of what he offers in the past, I don't need anything else from him.
So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?

Although I love Pharell's work, especially N.E.R.D I really hope he doesn't turn to any other producers. To me that would be such a sell out. I listen to Prince not just to hear his voice, but to hear his words and music and how he feel they should sound. Although I do agree he could use some inspiration from Wendy & Lisa and the rest of the Revolution.

Im sick of hearing about how great albums are before they come out. D&P aren't 'the greatest tunes I've ever heard,' Emancipation wasn't the album he 'was born 2 make,' MPLSound wasn't 'Controversy - The Saga Continues'...the list goes on and on, right up until the radio DJ comments about Cause & Effect before they played it. It's nice for people to be excited about the music but it's soooo much better to not believe the hype when it comes to Prince.

So much better not to believe the hype when it comes to a lot of things. I dug Avatar, did it change my religion? Nope.
