Please let me know where you heard this was fake [Edited 3/29/10 7:29am] It is NOT a fake. Maybe not completely approved by Prince, but they were made in Germany by Edel. It's just like the Jacob Armen CD and the Getwild Money Maker promo Cdsingle, those have the same story. Never to be released. The Exodus Hologram CD as I understand it was not authorized by Prince. This can be termed or classified as anything you would like to as a collector, but it's definitely a grey market item with no consent from the artists and original label involved. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Best Buy sold at least two different versions of those U Make My Sun Shine/When Will We B Paid CDs. The above mentioned Wingspan 00102 that has two Track Squad snippets (Throw Dat Leg Up and Sweet Punanny). Packaged in JewelCase. and NPG Records 2000 (No Catalog Number) With a Bonus Sample: The Daisy Chain. Packaged in JewelCase. I'm fairly certain Best Buy also sold a digipak with just the 2 songs on it as well (could this one have been on Redline Records - Best Buy's house label?). I don't have that one. Then I did see a cardboard packaged CD there, but it was obviously not a digipak. I'm guessing the label was Oarfin. I did't buy it 'cause I figured having two of those were enough. That slipcase version was also sold on tour. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I guess it just depends on where u r, where u buy etc....is any 1 rarer than the other? Probably....but i am seeing the version i have with the 2 snippets at the end sell 4 £40+ on a regular basis.....I know this dont mean its any rarer than the other versions, but it seems whatever version of this seems 2 command quite high prices. (unless u know where 2 look)

xenophobia2002 says above this was (as stated on the disc) made by Edel in Germany who were officially responsible for NPG records releases at that time in Europe. May I respectfully ask do you recall who led you to believe that this was in any way grey market or unauthorised and what their reasoning was? [Edited 3/31/10 2:01am]

[Edited 3/31/10 2:01am] I presumed it was like those 12" mix CD's that Warner released in the late 80's/early 90's without Prince's consent. blah blah blah

I thought German Exodus in round case was promotional copy. Do promotional copies require Prince's approval to be issued?

i'll tell you something. Borders just keeps coming up with more and more perfectlyl sealed, mint condition copies of 21 Nights.
anyone know how large the print run was on that thing? i'm about to quit snatching them up if they don't run out soon. it'll be 50 years before anyone's willing to pay more than $5 for them

The Exodus disc has the German imprint Edel. This applies to the one that comes with the holographic tin and the one that was originally packaged in the jewel case. What appears to have been done was that some enterprising do-it-youselfer made the holographic sticker tins and discarded the original jewel case. Sort of like this fake promo and other specially boxed items like it - the disc is the only legitimate thing about these: If someone can prove that this holographic tin was indeed manufactured by Edel or any other legitimate source for authorized promotional use or retail sale, I welcome any insight as to it's authenticity. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
