Do you remember stock of Goldnigga returned for a little time when new-funk restarted in 1998 or 1999? I told my friend that the new stock of Goldnigga might be withdrawn one with 16 tracks. It was quite possible since it's new-funk My friend purchased from that stock and it had actually 16 tracks!!

^ I thought that hologram Exodus was the real deal until recently learning otherwise. And that Aussie promo does look like a really bad, street corner fake, but I guess it's legit.

I bought my copy of the 16-track Goldnigga and a copy of the 2Gether CD-Single at the Minneapolis NPG Store. Of course, I wish I had bought more than one of each now.

Cd-r "bootlegs" are being openly sold (and advertised as such) on another auction style website (not Ebay). This really surprised me that they are being sold so blatantly....

In spite of being living in Japan, I didin't buy ANY of Paisley Park realeases in CD. I had them in vinyl and didn't feel the necessity to buy again in CD. I thought it would be better to buy other music. I still think I was right to spend my money to listen to other music as well, but it's also regreattable not to think about investment

For a start, to have a promo turn up sealed is an oddity in the fact that promos generally shouldn't be sealed. They are low run, and don't need retail protective sleeves.

Couple that with fact that when a sealed copy surfaces, its often the case that it hasn't been seen on the open market for a few years...and suddenly....about 10 sealed copies sell in a relatively short space of time.

A few years back the Gett Off birthday promo suddenly appeared on the market, sealed in every case. But they didn't all come on at once. One every couple of weeks. I don't believe it for one minute.

Then were was a sudden availability of the MPLS CD single.

In each case, the rarities that pop up in volume, sealed, have one thing in common. The original has an easy to copy CD and packaging, and they always seem to be level 2 rarities where collectors "facts" are less publicised.

I can't remeber off the top of my head, but I didn't think the orginal War CD was ever sealed. I know mine wasn't.

IIRC, "MPLS" single was sold at some concert venue (e.g. for L4OA). It may be the reason you often see it sold.

Regarding "War" single, I saw sealed copies in the year of its release (1998) and don't think they were counterfeit.

I remember the price was very high in 1998 or 1999. Then, I was surprised when NPGMC started to sell at $25 later.

I remember that I saw that "War" CD on regular sale on the site and ordered it the same evening.
Two or three days later, I checked the site and found it was "out of stock".
I was in doubt to receive it 'till when the NPG package came to my door.

To be honest, I didn't pay too much attention to that "Princely" era because after collecting for years P's releases I was a little upset of all that "TOO limited edition" he was starting to bring out (like the Hit'n'Run Singles, to explain).
