I'd like to see him turn George Clinton's "Flashlight" into an acoustic guitar folk song. Yeah, I said it! eek
OK, for real, though, how about um, covering an Isley Brothers song like "Fight the Power,'' or "Take Me To The Next Phase.'' He could tear them songs up!
A Prince-ified version of Stevie's "Contusion'' would be interesting, too. Toss in a Bob Marley "Redemption Song'' and I'm good for life. lol

Long Time by Boston, I have always thought that Princes High note guitar playing sounds just like Bostons guitarist. I think he was influenced by Boston. There sound was the shit in the 70's (i know Kansas was right there with them)

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

After what he did to Radiohead, I'm a little scared of any covers that drift out of the funk/soul/... genre.

There's a live version of Redemption Song, with Prince on piano and Rosie Gaines on vocals, from the Nude Tour (I think)*. It's worth trying to seek out, as his chord changes in it (and Rosie's ad-libs) are wonderful. (Unfortunately, it's on my old PC, so I can't access it at the moment.)

* Hmm... Says here it was performed in 1999, which may be what I've been hearing - although it does sound a lot like the performance of Aretha Franklin's Ain't No Way from 1990, so maybe it's a different one.

I don't believe you hmph!

Next you'll try to convince me, that he also wrote melisa morgan's "do me baby" or sinead's "nothing compares to you"

This is off topic, but does anybody else remember seeing an interview with Boy George where he was asked which Prince song he would cover?

His reply was great. He thought about it for a second and then said:

"I'd like to cover that duet he did with Madonna... With a blanket... and then sink it to the bottom of the ocean"

Or words to that effect. I don't usually find the guy funny, but that cracked me up.
blah blah blah

For me it would have to be "For The Love Of You". Originally done beautifully by the Isley Brothers. I'd just love to hear it with his voice all over it. I know it would be amazing!!
