Request: Allen Beaulieu talking about Dirty Mind cover

Ages ago (perhaps somewhere in the PML or PPML) I read a story of Allen Beaulieu talking about the creation of the Dirty Mind cover. Does anyone have that for me?

Thomas

Can you help me expand my collection?

Hi Thomas. I would love to see that interview as well.

I remember when I saw the cover for the first time, I didn't realize it was bedsprings in the background. I thought it was something to conduct electricity, something you'd see in a mad scientist's laboratory.

El bumparoni.

I would love to read this! I tried all of my usual inter-web search tricks but came up total snake eyes on this as well.

I just remember Lisa saying that the back was photographed in her apartment and that her landlord wasn't too happy with the spray paint on his walls.

I thought the same thing! I think the electrified look of the letters in "PRINCE" on the cover helped put that idea in my head. It made sense in my young head, since this was a "shocking" album.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who thought that, ha ha

I had that album for years before I figured out what that was behind Prince. Painting the springs white with a black backdrop and being shot in B&W gives it an x-ray kind of look.

Excellent cover. One of my favorites. It totally fits the vibe of the music.
