Flutestramental - Get Off

I heard this tune last night. What are your thoughts on it? It sort of sounds like a rap version of Get Off but infused with flute solos.

Do you/did you like it when it was released?
Was it released?
What was the "era" of the time of relase?

I didn't really dig it. I mean it's just o.k. not great. More of a disco tune IMO.

hmmm

I love it. There's some great things going on in Flutestramental that aren't part of the other mixes. I've always dug the flute parts in Gett Off.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

The flute certainly adds a completely opposite dimension. It seems Prince has experimented with so many sounds...trying to catch up, keep up. biggrin

It works really well on the maxi single, although my favourite is the houstyle mix. (probably the only house mix i like by Prince)

Why do you think the title is so similar (Gett vs. Get) the song is the same...please explain.

Other than a tiny sample taken from "Get Off", "Gett Off" is a completely different song. I'm sure the extra "t" was originally added to differentiate between the two songs, tho apparently that's not working so well now.
