If Prince is such a control freak...

How come someone as controlling and obsessed with his music as Prince is, have so many boots floating around?
Im not talking about his Live stuff. I know how that can be booted so easily. Im talking about his studio recordings. I mean, its not like he is recording at some random studio...its HIS studio. He is playing most of the instruments, if not all the instruments, most of the time. So its not like theres alot of people in the studio with him schemeing on how to obtain these songs. So who is leaking this material? He supposedly has a vault he puts this stuff in.
So could it be possible that Prince himself leaks these songs for us? Maybe as a gift? Or maybe just to get attention? I know its a long shot, but ya think it may be a possibilty?

Maybe he's not really the control freak everyone makes him out to be.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Back in the 90's, Prince used to hand out tapes to employees or whoever with randoms songs on it. Sometimes an engineer will make a copy for themselves. Sometimes the tapes come from band members, when Prince will record a song and then gives it to them and says "Learn it". There's a lot of stuff floating around out there. You'll notice not a lot of stuff post 2000 has ever leaked out. The "newer" stuff that comes out like the latest Box of Chocolate with the cleaner versions is just folks who either realize they have a newer copy of a copy, or decide to share the treasure they KNOW they possess.

Boots are often crappy because of the copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy thing. But when you have a lower generation tape, like just a copy of a copy, the quality improves greatly. It's just about tracking those folks/sources down to get them.

So the stuff is out there, by Prince's own hand, or whatever. And remember, before the digital age of internet and MP3, putting out a tape and a few people copying it wasn't nearly as big of an impact as Napster or whatever proved to be.

Prince is an object to most people.

People use him to bolster themselves way up high.

From studio engineers to women to even his most devoted fans.

This error occurs because he is just an object to them.

A vehicle through which they can get $ and lots and lots of attention.

Think they just love his music and only want to share it?

If they perceived him as more than an object they'd consider his wishes and respect them.

No such luck.

Prince is an object.

To be honest, for many, this stuff has been discused ad nausum. Do some searching and you'll find dozens of threads with extensive explanations. However, in short you could say that Prince used to be pretty sloppy with his stuff, but that this changed later on. Some tapes were stolen and some engineers were able to make copies. He used to let tapes lie around and give tapes to bandmembers, employees, friends. They left or lost those tapes in cars etc. or they made copies for others, who then copied for others etc.
There is no evidence however that Prince actively leaked songs so that they would get into fans hands, let alone that he controls any bootleg company.
As a matter of fact, judging by Prince's stance against bootleges and Prince tightened security in the late 90's, so much so that not a lot of stuff 'leaks' anymore, one would have to reasonably assume that Prince never intentionally leaked anything "for us". That as a matter of fact, he hates it that fans have acces to unauthorised material.

I have been on the receiving end of some of the unreleased music (heard and given to me) from a few people that know Prince personally (and worked for him) so Ernest is again on point about this.
