The fact that the word was said in the movie doesn't offend me at all because the word exists and Prince is definately called a "faggot" by many people.

It would be unrealistic to think he's never been called the word and it makes the movie realistic considering that it was his enemy that called him the word. I'm just glad it was used in humorous way that actually made Morris look like a fool rather than Prince. I mean, he called someone a "faggot" that just stole his girl away from him, that really made him look like a fool.

I think we were a little different as a society back then, at least in my circles. When I was a kid I used to hear the word all the time (and even said it myself, I'm sorry to say), and it didn't necessarily mean "gay" it was more of a generic insult.

Funny, about 15 years later I heard Eminem defending his use of the word with the same logic. Of course the difference is once I learned how hateful it was I didn't try to defend using it, AND I was only 10 years old at the time, Eminem was 30
