Might sound kind of cheesy....But one of the times I saw him @ the Gorge...(near Seattle) in 98 he sang "One of us" and the entire crowd was completely into it and it was just an amazing moment...Got a bit teary...He was on top of a set of speakers with Habibi and just singing his heart out....super cool moment!! I have never burst into tears at a Prince concert, although I planned to do so. I figured that with me going to the Musicology show (which was my very first Prince show) that after waiting over 20 plus years to see him, I might react like some of the MJ footage that you see. But when he emerged from the middle of the stage in Tampa, I just smiled and shook my head, as if I was saying "Man...it's been a long time coming."

DarlingNikki1025 said: I was just curious because Prince is such an emotional singer that it would be hard not to feel something? I know if I was fortunate to attend a concert I'd probably at some point during the show start balling from witnessing such a magnificent performer. So, have you ever lost it at a Prince concert or have known anybody to blubbler like a baby for "His Royal Badness"?
Oddly enough you should ask such a question.

No.
But I did tear up when I've heard some of the more recent concerts (from the internet) such as the cover he did at Coachella. Then when I heard the song "Nothing Compares 2 U" he sang when he was in Paris, I believe.

I confess that I've only seen him once live and I had to fight back the tears several times. After almost 20 years as a fan, I finally got to se him live and it was a moment for me. I have to admire my own strength, because I really wanted to cry like a sissy little bitch that night and I'm not ashamed to admit it! Christopher damn!

It's OK too feel that way i'm a man & not afraid to admit tearing-up or even crying behind sheer enjoyment!!!

Okay, okay, I admit it: I got teary eyed during the celebration, when Prince performed the song, "Eye Love U, But Eye Don't Trust U Anymore". That song has always been such a sad song to me. I've often wondered if he wrote that song about Mayte? RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Most of the time at his shows I am just on a purple high and diggin the music though I had tears in my eyes:
09/1988 Dortmund - Anna Stesia 02/2007 Vegas - Joy in Repetition 09/2007 London - I would die 4 U....then he plays the opening of Darling Nikki twice, crowd went apeshit, he said: I can´t do that. lol

Yeah, but only because he was singing with my daughter and I was so proud.

yeah, I did burst into tears a couple of times. The worst part of it is that it was during Purple Rain, and I used to dislike the song, but somehow it touched me and since then I changed my mind about the song, haha. There's something about Prince in concert that makes me feel a profound respect for his music, that's how I ended up crying the second time, ... just the music, so good... I believe in my dreams and they'll come true.

yep. First time I ever saw him (JOY) when Purple Rain started....I couldn't hold back the tears. I didn't sit there an blubber but..I was cryin' a lil.
but yeah...I usually have to gulp back the emotions anytime I see him in concert. "not a fan" yeah...ok

There are quite a few songs that make me tear up when Prince sings them, but the most crying I did was during the last of several shows I went to during the Purple Rain Tour back in the 80s when I realized it was the last time I'd see him for a while. Of course, he always closed the shows with that back then. I was very emotional but I have to admit I had really gotten a bit insane over him at the time! Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.

Back in 1994 after the riots, Prince played at the Universal Amphetheatre and when the band did Purple Rain, it really was one of the most emotional times I can recall at a concert. People needed to release their emotions and it was the perfect time for that. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. A drunk fell on top of me at the NEC in Birmingham in the 90's. I fell over a couple of rows of seats. Luckily, two men in front caught me as I flew past. That brought tears to my eyes.
Prince had just begun a lovely acoustic version of purple rain, which I disrupted by screaming my head off, then missed as security helped me out while I calmed down. Happy times.
