I wish I could hear Dream Factory.

What's not to hear?

1 Visions 2:11
2 Nevaeh Ni Ecalp A 0:52
3 Dream Factory 2:38 Released on Crystal Ball
4 Train 4:18 on Mavis Staples' Time Waits For No One; circulating bootleg w/ Prince's vocal
5 The Ballad of Dorothy Parker 4:02 Released on Sign O The Times
6 It 5:10 Released on Sign O The Times
7 Strange Relationship 3:40 Released on Sign O The Times
8 Slow Love 4:22 Released on Sign O The Times
9 Starfish & Coffee 1:07 Released on Sign O The Times
10 Interlude 0:59
11 I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man 6:29 Released on Sign O The Times
12 Sign o' the Times 4:56 Released on Sign O The Times
13 Crystal Ball 10:28 Released on Crystal Ball
14 A Place in Heaven 2:49
15 Last Heart 3:01 Released on Crystal Ball
16 Witness 4 the Prosecution 4:51
17 Movie Star 4:25 Released on Crystal Ball
18 The Cross 4:45 Released on Sign O The Times
19 All My Dreams 7:10

All the other songs not in bold are circulating. "All My Dreams" is in great quality. The new Box of Chocolates boot has "A Place In Heaven", and "Witness 4 The Prosecution" in the best quality yet. "Interlude" is just a quiet guitar noodling before "ICNTTPOYM". In effect, you've heard the majority of it already.

and visions was released on the 2nd disc of erioca by wendy & lisa. minneapolis #1 or something it was called

Interesting to hear these songs in a new setting. Dream Factory is not necessarily better or worse than Sign, but it does feel a bit more adventurous, kind of like the film.

It shows, too, how many ways the same songs can be sequenced and still be effective. Song order is such a tricky thing!

That is correct... it is literally the exact same recording that was to appear on Dream Factory, just renamed - the quality is 100% crystal clear however.

If you are a completist or want the best sounding version of that song, make sure you pick up the 2CD version of Erioca.

Pimpsandwich's version sounds the best to my ears (I also have Sab's and Foefurs... I think Foefur simply remastered Sab's, but I could be wrong... they both sound great as well). "All My Dreams" is a top 5 favorite out-take of all time for me. A shame such a fantastic song never saw release.

i wonder what version of A Place In Heaven that is? it's sequenced after Movie Star and on the new BOC they segue into each other with the 'enviromental records' chat in the intro to APIH but on the sabs version of DF it's Lisa's vocal.

My favourite boot ever.

For real? Hmmm...

Woah! Just d/l the Pimpsandwich version - definitely the best sound out of the 3! I kinda dismissed it cos of the artwork. I'll just have to burn a copy with Sab's artwork. cool

Yeah, I changed the order straight away as I'm so used to Sab's configuration - it flows beautifully.

@Bfunkthe1, the running order on the Sab version is as follows

Visions
Nevaeh Ni Ecalp A
Dream Factory
Train
The Ballad of Dorothy Parker
It
Strange Relationship
Starfish & Coffee
Slow Love
Interlude
I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man
Sign 'O' the Times
Crystal Ball
A Place in Heaven
Last Heart
Witness 4 the Prosecution
Movie Star
The Cross
All My Dreams

Ok they don't segue together but the spoken intro on APIH is there so a segue must have been considered at some point, i've edited Movie Star so they run in together and it sounds ace.

^^ i'm guessing that on that listing it was the prince version of APIH but was changed to Lisa's on the other configuration (sabs), is that configuration an official one? or one that was compiled unofficially over the years.

the lisa version segued from movie star, but the prince version didn't. for some reason movie star fades out before the lisa version of APIH starts (as the two tracks were sequenced together and they are circulating in that form, in the same way as one of the versions of old friends 4 sale seques into in all my dreams, or the ball segues into joy and repetition in one sequence), and the next track is the prince version of APIH which has it's own intro/seque at the start. if you find the lisa version it will join with the BOC of moviestar. or do a bit of compositing and take the CB moviestar, use the BOC seque and insert the lisa version of APIH

always preferred the June 3 configuration to the July 18 version, because it has more of a band feel. he kept throwing in more and more solo tracks as he went along.

he barely had to do anything but throw the Camille tracks in there to turn it into CB/SOTT.

if he were ever to release a version of this after he had his masters back, or whatever, it's the June 3 version I'd want.

Witness 4 the Prosecution

which version do u prefer?

there is the one that has a harder rock feel to it

and then the one that starts out with him talking 2 his lover... baby don't leave me, has the rock edge but a bit more mellow <- that's my favorite

^^^ I like the version on the sabs version with the horns and backing vocals, although the stripped version on BOC is cool and much better than the Pop version which is just dang!

I think Prince should just go ahead and get with those involved in that project, even people like Susan Rogers. Completed it add the pictures I know they have that go with it, the cover that Susannah was putting together and release the album... and go get his money.... I would definately buy it.

there aren't too many re-works i like. Music & Movies
