I hate to admit this, but I never heard "Its a wonderful day", could I get a short review please? And some history info as well...thanks! :>)

If I remember correct, there's a snippet of It's A Wonderful Day in the UTCM film.

In the "butterscotch/chocolate" scene its playing in the background.

1 Visions 2:11
2 Nevaeh Ni Ecalp A 0:52
3 Dream Factory 2:38 Released on Crystal Ball
4 Train 4:18 on Mavis Staples' Time Waits For No One; circulating bootleg w/ Prince's vocal
5 The Ballad of Dorothy Parker 4:02 Released on Sign O The Times
6 It 5:10 Released on Sign O The Times
7 Strange Relationship 3:40 Released on Sign O The Times
8 Slow Love 4:22 Released on Sign O The Times
9 Starfish & Coffee 1:07 Released on Sign O The Times
10 Interlude 0:59
11 I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man 6:29 Released on Sign O The Times
12 Sign o' the Times 4:56 Released on Sign O The Times
13 Crystal Ball 10:28 Released on Crystal Ball
14 A Place in Heaven 2:49
15 Last Heart 3:01 Released on Crystal Ball
16 Witness 4 the Prosecution 4:51
17 Movie Star 4:25 Released on Crystal Ball
18 The Cross 4:45 Released on Sign O The Times
19 All My Dreams 7:10

All the other songs not in bold are circulating. "All My Dreams" is in great quality. The new Box of Chocolates boot has "A Place In Heaven", and "Witness 4 The Prosecution" in the best quality yet. "Interlude" is just a quiet guitar noodling before "ICNTTPOYM". In effect, you've heard the majority of it already.

And now with the clearer versions out, it's an even better compilation to make on one's own in a playlist on iTunes or something.

Same with Crystal Ball

Is the 10:28 version of Crystal Ball the original with the Clare F strings?

Train(boot) & Strange Relationships(with the middle eastern vibe) are of course better 2 me

Yup...I kinda made my own:

I have exact tracklists for both DF and CB in iTunes. I have the earlier versions of ICNTTPOYM and Strange Relationship that I include where they are supposed to be. It's interesting hearing these SOTT songs in a different order. "SOTT" just seems like another one-off political and social song, but as a title track, it gives the whole SOTT album a different mood.

Dream Factory is in my top 5 of P albums as I've stated many times.
Bottom line it's the last hurrah of The Revolution and Wendy and Lisa's influence. All were at their peak. Imo.
So is this Sabotage remastered version really that good? Haven't heard it. wink

Wow where did you find Susan's hand-written tracklist? THIS version of the album (the June 3rd tracklist) is my favorite! I made a CD of it and listen to it religiously. If it had been released in this form, it probably would have been my favorite Prince album. But when you take out "Power Fantastic" and "Large Room..." and replace them with the more well-known SOTT songs, it's not as much fun to listen to.

Strange Relationship, ICNTTPOYM, SOTT and Crystal Ball are different to the released versions.

I can't remember if Dream Factory and Moviestar are #1 or #2 and can't be bothered checking.

Listening to Mavis Staples' version of Train is a much inferior pleasure to listening to Prince's version.

A place in Heaven is sung by Lisa on DF unlike on BOC, which features #1 version sung by Prince.

So, listening to songs from here and there does not equal the joy of listening to this beautiful album.

And, yes, go for Pimpsandwich's version and dump all others (I have 5 Dream Factorys, so I'm afraid I can tell). Some songs run in different order because this one follows the configuration listed by Per Nilsen, not the one released by Sab but is by far the best.

That handwritten tracklist was in an issue of UPTOWN magazine a few years back. If Im not mistaking, it was in an article tracing the evolution of the Dream Factory to Crystal Ball to Sign O the Times. Correct me if Im wrong though.

The majority of the best material of this album did make it out on Sign o The Times. The story and hype has made Dream Factory out to be more than it is - a great Prince record like all PRince records.

I think it's the compilation that brings it together, not the hype, it's a well put together album

Dream Factory Last Heart Heaven In A Large Room w No Light Power Fantastic Witness 4 the Prosecution Teacher Teacher Movie Star Train

non of these made SOTT but I think they match just as well

I think there should have been a Prince & Susannah album, because there are a lot of songs where it's He & She together: Play In the Sunshine, Rock Hard In A Funky Plce, Make Yo Momma Happy, and a whole lot of other Camille tracks & SOTT cuts

Agreed. Pimpsandwich's version of this is worth acquiring. Not to say that Sabotage's version is bad at all (that's what I have on my ipod at the moment). I will say that Sabotage certainly has the edge on the artwork -- the Pimpsandwich DF artwork is seriously awful. The Sab artwork was tastefully done (from this graphic designer's opinion), despite the fact that it's not necessarily what I would have done. The PS artwork IS NOT "artwork" -- it's like setting a 12-year-old loose in Photoshop.
