WOW! ONA LIVE COPENHAGEN!

I thought ONA Live the official version was good...but I am blown away by Prince's performance in ONA Live Copenhagen, which I am listening to for the first time. I can't believe how crisp and clean the sound is--I feel like I'm actually there. The music blows me away...I think that Prince live with any song is so much better than any studio recordings! Mark me down as officially blown away---- cool

You are praising a boot?
Do you understand that P could have released this in pristine digital soundboard?
But that the bootleggars are reaping because P isn't interested?

Maybe...I haven't seen it but I can tell you that the sound set from ONA Live Copenhagen is the bomb. Crystal clear--even better than the official version. wink

P's guitar playing is awesome...where he falls down is in his Led Zeppelin cover--it is technically brilliant as far as guitar playing goes, but it is oddly devoid of the context of the original song. And this is a complaint that I see many people making about P's recent music--that it is technically or musically on par but that there is something lacking in the delivery and emotiveness of the music... That is something I have to ruminate on... hmmm

Even if he was, he wouldn't. 'Prince & The Band' isn't perfect. That old out of synch drum machine makes for comedy gold tho.

The rest is fab.

It is all fab. He just doesn't understand that well enough.
It is not just about technical perfection but also about all the other stuff being communicated during a live show: emotions, intensity, etc.

But c'mon, you gotta admit that Marrk has a point about "Prince & The Band." It's shockingly amateur. The rest is fantastic, but wow.

True that--but it's only a comic blip in an otherwise great show...and the sound is just the best. biggrin

Does anyone prefer My Band's Tight? It's a matrix of the audience release Funkin' Copenhagen and the soundboard One Nite Alone In Copenhagen. I still like the raw soundboard of One Nite Alone In Copenhagen better.

I was at three of those shows and an aftershow in London and the DVD does not match the energy.

It is pretty good though.

Perhaps a DVD will never truly capture the experience of being there.

I have a few songs of the ONA and it's terrific! Don't know where it was recorded though....but Prince on the accoustic guitar, singing and playing around is always unique.

Don't you think that P's recording would be slightly different and less hush-hushed?
He could have planned a bit (I agree, a rare thing for P) made the technicalities around the recordings process to be perfect.
But oh well...
