4 real!! show me a $30 dolla concert and i'm your friend till the end... here in Holland they usually are. But prices have been rising a lot here too the last decade. Prince disses Clearchannel and Viacom who own so many radiostations, but at the same time they sponsor his tour and charge ywice as much as the last time Prince visited. prince obviously doesn't care, in fact he charges 4 times as much when it concerns an aftershow in which Clearchannel has no say. You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

Just a thought, but I find that Europe has so much more culture and arts than the US (and also than my country Canada) that I can see this happening. Have you ever been to Europe? The appreciation of pure art has more opportunity to prosper there, Europeens seem to have more appreciation for non-mainstream stuff. But this is just my 2 cents worth from observation and from how I feel.
Of course, this doesn't apply to all you Prince fans... CalhounSq said: Just heard Nighttown & I'm PISSED OFF!!! The setlist is INSANE! Beautiful Strange, Whole Lotta Love (leading into) Family Name, Q of U/The One/Fallen, Calhoun Square, Bambi, a kickass version of Dolphin, an instrumental jam that blew my mind, I can't even remember the rest but DAAAYUUUM!!!
Has he EVER done a show like this in the US??? I admit I don't memorize setlists, I don't know what he's played at every single show so PLEASE somebody prove me wrong!! It just seems like he leaves the country & loses his mind plays ALL the killer shit! But in the US he don't really feel it like that... What's the deal?? Do US fans suck ass or what??

Hmm I'd say that Prince probably feels a bit more "free" in his European shows, simply because it isn't his own doorstep. The USA is full of his peers, his critics, his detractors, his friends and loved ones etc... maybe he feels a bit more pressure to give them "Prince" the pop star. I don't know if he gets any more respect here in Europe (he still gets shit from the UK tabloids etc) but he certainly has a big fan following. I guess that has gotta be quite satisfying for Prince, that after so many years, all these teeny countries in Europe still dig him and still fill up the theatres for several nights running. Also perhaps Prince feels that his fans in different countries with different cultural backgrounds etc have different tastes in his music. It might just be a case of giving the punters what they want. Prince should set up a new Paisley Park in Europe and all you Americans would have to trek over here for the Celebrations Co-sign. Prince would never play a set list like he did on the [color=gold:10c28a6fe7:761809e56a] The Gold Experience Tour{just to give an example} in the U.S.,because simply put, Americans would be upset and disgruntled at not hearing "The Hits" and he knows this. So as a result, you won't get a set list like the Nightown list you provided. You have people like us who want to hear him kick out some lesser known gems, some unrelased stuff and what have you. Then you have the others who want "Raspberry Beret", "1999"{even though it's 2003} and "Delirious". The other day I was at the CD store and I was telling this lady that Prince has a 3-CD live set out and the first thing that came out of her mouth is "I hope he has mostly old stuff on it like "Purple Rain" because if not, then I don't want it"...hence my overall point of this post. So hardcore US fans are fucked unless we got to the Celebration, right?? Maybe that's the way it should be since American audiences do indeed suck ass overall BUT as a hardcore fan who happens to dwell in America, THAT'S some cold shit...

Of course, this doesn't apply to all you Prince fans... Yes, I've been, but I'm not planning on moving there any time soon I guess I'll just have to save, save, SAVE for the next string of Euro dates & try to hit a few. Any advice on what cities to definitely hit??

So really we Americans just have to start seeing his shows in Europe. That's Basically what we should be saving our money for.

Maybe another factor is age - seems like shows in the US are full of 30+ folks. Our kids are too bred on rap samples & watered down R&B to know any better, Prince got levels they can't even imagine an artist can go.
While abroad (at least from the looks of this board & comments from concert reviews) the audiences tend to have more young people, which gives off a different energy...

Well,I knew a few European fans who didn't Mind Bragging how many times they saw Prince. Then they were Rude talking about American Fans like they were Below them or something. Some girls who were giving me looks cause their guys said Hi and all. Big Idiot Girls actually. I don't know why another girl can't say Hi or be a friend to a guy without his OVERPROTECTIVE GirlFriend giving her Daggers and calling her names. Very Insecure Women I'd say who are so Afraid to Lose Their Man... Wouldn't you say that? I say give your Man some Freedom cause he isn't gonna stay with ya if he has no Freedom and you are always with Him watching like a Vulture. Boy,I would Never. That's so Desperate.
