Ok, so after some of you get done with the usual Prince is an ass/he doesn't know how to do business comments, can we discuss the facts? Do you care?
My question is did they state what exactly he agreed to do with regard to promoting the fragrance? He performed three concerts in MPLS as a tie-in to th release of the perfume. The shows at Macy's and the Target Center had product placement all over. 3121 ads featuring Prince and Chelsea Rodgers were projected on the walls in Macys and free travel-size bottles were handed out at the Target Center concert. People bought the fragrance and others got it for free, but it tanked. Is that Prince's fault? Let's face it, the perfume did not smell that great. If it had, it would have sold itself. I think Prince promoted 3121 as much as any celebrity promotes the fragrances their names are tied to. That's why I wonder if there were any specific duties that he did not satisfy. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

This is what he gets for getting into the perfume business. Does he need the $ that bad? This coupled with the Youtube/baby thing is really making Prince look silly. Maybe he should just focus on the music and he will stay out of trouble.
Next he will have a new frozen food called Prince Pockets. Flavors will be Raspberry Puree, Cinnamon Curl & Chocolate Box.

The company claims that Prince stopped all communication in July 2007 and refused further promotional efforts, and thereby breaching the contract. If this is true, they are well within their rights to sue his litigious ass.

I think Prince promoted 3121 as much as any celebrity promotes the fragrances their names are tied to. That's why I wonder if there were any specific duties that he did not satisfy. Well he could have gone with a more reputable company that has experience in developing high end perfumes & distributing them to high end stores. Revelations did NOT. They are more along the lines of Body Axe spray and Parum De Coeur (those fake drug store perfumes). But did he investigate that? Based on his OWN statements, he chose the company NOT because of its reputation in the business, not because of its access to distribution channels, but because their name was Revelation and it reminded him of the Bible. POOR BUSINESS DECISION FROM THE START. Whether they have a legal leg to stand on all depends on whatever actual contract was in place. BUT based on what came out in the lawsuit over the Ireland concert cancellation, it seems as Prince prefers to dwell in ambiguities when making "agreements" with people, so that he has an "out." This again, is BAD BUSINESS and an open door to litigation. If your shit is not clear down to every detail, then an arbiter (i.e., the courts) will be brought in to interpret your paisley-speak. "That...magic, the start of something revolutionary-the Minneapolis Sound, we should cherish it and not punish prince for not being able to replicate it."-Dreamshaman32
