I am glad that Prince shut the fuck up & let the music do the talking. It's a killer album but I don't agree that it's his best. It's probably his best instrumental albums imo.

Its my wife's favourite. I have played it to a fan of jazz without disclosing who it was and she thought it was so good she bought it.

But whilst it is worthy album in my collection, it is by no means his best IMHO.

yeah and Tony M. should have sung all of Prince's vocals too . . . .keeping him on the backburner until he needed a rap was just wrong! He should have had him do more rapping over EVERY song . . . even rerecord the back catalog with Tony M. And NEWS needs some Tony M. just as bad as it needs more cowbell.

N.E.W.S Is such an amazing album, To me it's definatly a high point in his career

Prince's best jazz fusion album with all instrumental tracks edited together to each conveniently be 14 minutes long is definitely N.E.W.S. However, the first four minutes of West is some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard.

Btw, I can totally imagine the '84 Prince doing this jam. When I first heard this song (I didn't know Prince's past Emancipation yet, and didn't know which album this was on, I actually thought it was a song from the 80s!)
