Let Jakeasaurus answer where "A whole batch of new songs" were mentioned ??

Maybe Jakeasaurus was referring to the Strib articles? confuse But 1) this was a reporter that said it, b) it doesn't tie in to Prince giving a rat's ass what we think, and 4) Has Prince actually spoken a word publicly about any new music since... forever?

New Prince song to debut Friday on Current

Posted by Chris Riemenschneider
Last update: February 23, 2010 - 3:07 PM

After making a meaningful appearance at the Current's fifth anniversary party last month at First Ave, Prince has given the Twin Cities public radio station first crack at a new song called "Cause and Effect." The track -- described as "a rocker filled with virtuosic guitar work, explosive drum breaks, a poppy chorus, trademark shrieks and whoops" in a Current press release -- will debut Friday at the very un-Princely time of 7 a.m. (89.3 FM or online here). Presumably, they'll keep playing it throughout the day.

The last time Prince gave a new song to a radio station, it was the prominent (but now defunct) Los Angeles station Indie 103.1, so this is quite a coup for the nonprofit Current. It's very appropriate for him to premiere the song locally, though, since he has been living here again for a few months now and recording a lot out at Paisley Park in Chanhassen -- despite assorted distractions worldwide. No word on a full album release yet, but this track will reportedly be issued along with many more on his $77 annual subscription service at www.LotusFlow3r.com.

The track -- described as "a rocker filled with virtuosic guitar work, explosive drum breaks, a poppy chorus, trademark shrieks and whoops" -- will debut Friday at the very un-Princely time of 7 a.m. and continue airing throughout the day.

It's one of a batch of new tracks the singer has been recording at his Paisley Park Studio in Chanhassen and will issue via his $77 annual subscription service at www.LotusFlow3r.com. The last time Prince gave a radio station an exclusive premiere, it was to prominent Los Angeles station Indie 103.1.

"After several years of living in L.A., it seems clear that Prince wants us to know that he's back" in Minnesota, said the Current's program director Jim McGuinn.

Yep, a batch of new songs was most definitely mentioned. 'C & E' was just one from the batch, announced to be delivered at Lotusflow3r.

You know, I've just been thinking. Those of us who speak our minds and cause a stink when Prince goes back on what he promised are responsible for him releasing some different, if eclectic stuff.

The war, xpectation, cnote, f.u.n.k are all now available thanks to the people who didn't just lie back and take the measly offerings he was dishing out.

Just a random aside.

there is no such thing as a batch of new songs. either it's an album
he's already sequenced or it's just a handfull of new stuff. either
way, he doesn't want any input. it's all just promotion once again.

but who knows, we might actually be pleasantly surprised for once and
get new music or even news about new music, direct from prince on his
own website, instead of finding out on dr funkenberry or from some of
his weirdly associated girlfriends on youtube.

Put them all on lotsuflower's new Music tab and don't let the non members hear them. All they'll do is critisize anyway.

So, you are saying two things that chaff my ass here: 1) that only suckers, excuse me, "members", of Lotusflow3r should be able to hear P's new music (if it exists), and 2) only non-members of Lotusflow3r criticize his music? rolleyes Correct me if I misinterpret what you said.

I had thought that jakesaurus was also basing that on those recent tweets - can't remember the engineers name but they were things like "Wow, everyone at Paisley is a one-take wonder" etc etc

I don't remember seeing anywhere that any feedback would somehow impact Prince's decisions about what to release, but there certainly has been enough buzz to show that there's been some significant recording activity at PP.

*****THIS THREAD IS NOT ABOUT THE SONG CAUSE AND EFFECT - FOR DISCUSSION ON CAUSE AND EFFECT, VISIT http://prince.org/msg/7/331169*****

We have been told that there's been a new batch of songs recorded recently at Paisley Park, including one he released that's been talked about a lot online.

We have also been told that Prince specifically wanted to know what people thought about the sample of this new batch of songs, and that reactions would probably either compel or deter him from releasing the entire batch of songs.

This thread is not about the song that's been released, which garnered a lot of negative comments on this website and several others.

This thread is for supporters of hearing the entire collection of songs recently recorded at Paisley Park. I for one would like to hear them out of curiosity and interest no matter what I think about the song that's been released.

Who else is up for hearing the whole shebang?

Another thought, why is everyone suddenly so picky about his song releases? Back in the day we wanted to hear anything we could get our hands on, no matter whether we liked it or not, it was still valuable because it was a Prince song.

Now people are saying things like "I hope he throws the rest in the garbage" and "These are probably just lotusflow3r leftovers." So what? You people would honestly rather hear NOTHING than hear a couple of songs that you may not like?

Where is the appreciation for his music nowadays? I really wonder what is wrong with some of you people.

I'm no more interested in new music by Prince long ago.
Prince is dead in terms of creativity & music Art.
Prince is a looser, he is unable to agree with Warner Brother for the release of its Remasters + bonus ,he is a bad business man, Prince has become a caricature of himself.
My only wish is to see out the outtakes of his vault, even an outtake of medium quality from the great Princely period will always be better than any songs to come out or since the last 15 years!!
