Orgers For the Release of the Whole Batch of New Songs We have been told that there's been a new batch of songs recorded recently at Paisley Park, including one he released that's been talked about a lot online. We have also been told that Prince specifically wanted to know what people thought about the sample of this new batch of songs, and that reactions would probably either compel or deter him from releasing the entire batch of songs. This thread is not about the song that's been released, which garnered a lot of negative comments on this website and several others. This thread is for supporters of hearing the entire collection of songs recently recorded at Paisley Park. I for one would like to hear them out of curiosity and interest no matter what I think about the song that's been released. Who else is up for hearing the whole shebang?

Another thought, why is everyone suddenly so picky about his song releases? Back in the day we wanted to hear anything we could get our hands on, no matter whether we liked it or not, it was still valuable because it was a Prince song.
Now people are saying things like "I hope he throws the rest in the garbage" and "These are probably just lotusflow3r leftovers." So what? You people would honestly rather hear NOTHING than hear a couple of songs that you may not like? Where is the appreciation for his music nowadays? I really wonder what is wrong with some of you people. Prince, let's hear it ALL

He probably could you know, and do it through the Lotusflow3r website.. or release snippets.. he could be doing a lot of that, getting people excited n shit. so.... he should At this point in history, we have a choice to make

We'll hear the new music if Prince wants us to,
Nothing we can do about that I'm afraid.... Jakeasaurus said: Where is the appreciation for his music nowadays? I really wonder what is wrong with some of you people.
I am just expressing my honest opinion, I love a lot (most) of Prince's back catalogue, But I can't appreciate garbage music like Purple And Gold / Cause & Effect. Now, just respect different opinions... wouldn't it be weird if we all said and meant the same here on the org ???? Prince 4Ever.

Would you rather know that the songs existed and not have a clue what they sounded like or would you rather have heard Purple and Gold and Cause and Effect and disliked them? I would rather at least be given the chance to hear the songs to form an opinion on them, rather than them being held back and never heard. Jeez..... who died and made you guys Prince's producers?

I guess I'm out of the loop or overlooked a statement. When did Prince say this? If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I guess I'm out of the loop or overlooked a statement. When did Prince say this? I wondered the same thing. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

Yeah but based on that 15 second sample of C&E we heard on Dr Funkenberry, I would have definitely voted to hear it!
But that ended up being 15 great seconds in a mediocre track! Take it - like Clarence said:

^ I see Mars... I guess you are right.
Let Jakeasaurus answer where "A whole batch of new songs" were mentioned ?? Prince 4Ever.

Well, whether or not Prince wants our opinion, we're going to give it to him via our wallets. If he just happens across a website dedicated to him, but not officially sanctioned by him and gets an earful, so be it. If he makes a decision to hold back some music because we're not worthy (The Divine, etc.), or if he thinks there's an undue amount of criticism from the people who pay his rent, then maybe he should let a few tracks ripen on the vine a while.
But, c'mon... since when has Purps ever acted like he cares what we think? Like the recent court transcripts say, it "would probably make him do the opposite." If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Let Jakeasaurus answer where "A whole batch of new songs" were mentioned ?? Maybe Jakeasaurus was referring to the Strib articles? But 1) this was a reporter that said it, b) it doesn't tie in to Prince giving a rat's ass what we think, and 4) Has Prince actually spoken a word publicly about any new music since... forever? http://www.startribune.co...3LGDiO7aiU New Prince song to debut Friday on Current Posted by Chris Riemenschneider Last update: February 23, 2010 - 3:07 PM After making a meaningful appearance at the Current's fifth anniversary party last month at First Ave, Prince has given the Twin Cities public radio station first crack at a new song called "Cause and Effect." The track -- described as "a rocker filled with virtuosic guitar work, explosive drum breaks, a poppy chorus, trademark shrieks and whoops" in a Current press release -- will debut Friday at the very un-Princely time of 7 a.m. (89.3 FM or online here). Presumably, they'll keep playing it throughout the day. The last time Prince gave a new song to a radio station, it was the prominent (but now defunct) Los Angeles station Indie 103.1, so this is quite a coup for the nonprofit Current. It's very appropriate for him to premiere the song locally, though, since he has been living here again for a few months now and recording a lot out at Paisley Park in Chanhassen -- despite assorted distractions worldwide. No word on a full album release yet, but this track will reportedly be issued along with many more on his $77 annual subscription service at www.LotusFlow3r.com. "After several years of living in L.A., it seems clear that Prince wants us to know that he's back" in Minnesota, said the Current's program director Jim McGuinn. We at least know the singer was not in Dublin on Tuesday, where he was expected to appear in court as a defendant in a $2.5 million lawsuit over his cancellation of a 2008 concert. Lawyers for the co-defendant William Morris Agency gave no explanation of Prince's absence, but they denied wrongdoing and said the singer would provide a written statement, the Irish Times reported. hmmm, who rememnbers when the NPGMC was pre launched with When I lay my hands on u? , now THAT was a smart move and a great incentive to join. However if C&E is representative of what LF.COM will give us then P is so far out of touch that he should move to another planet!. LF could be great , but P will find a way to screw it up!, Jesus all we want is good quality music , rare goodies, the odd achive video etc that is easy to download and hey presto P here's some £$ that we will gladly hand over.

So simple and yet so true.

The org is not all Prince fans and the majority of the people on this site, don't even post to this forum. If he chooses to "punish" all of his fans for the actions of a few, he's a dumbass. He could have also had his official site have forums if he wanted feedback on his stuff.

yes, as always i would be interested and excited about a new prince song,
the same way i was about the last 2. but...he either needs a new band or as others have suggested, allow himself to be produced, or...try a totally new approach this is all based on his last 2 releases

Prince knows that this forum holds a number of his fans but also a number of his haters, i don't think he cares what people say as long as they back it up ... he's said in so many interviews about the music press ... Hence he put's out on radio and see's what the buzz is like ...at the end of the day he chooses the songs on the album nobody else... Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! I believe Prince cares what his fans thinks, cuz his "vanity" is huge. Ps. don't call other fans "haters", it's just opinions, maybe just different than yours. I'm a fan of Prince since 1983 - I just don't like everything Prince is releasing, but I absolutely love his past works. This doesn't make me a Prince "hater"... if its not a classic prince should trash it. Orgers for a boycott on all prince output until he writes a real song thats actually good and does not make people cringe. way back when prince songs were good .. thats why everyone wanted to hear them, not because they were there but because they were good. cause and effect is simply unlistenably bad. i am still trying to forget it its so bad.. push it out of my minds existence. orgers need a backbone stop giving prince ur money until he makes music thats worth money. 10 bucks 10 songs ... every song should be good, not mediocre or painfully bad. reduce his 300000 fan club to about 100 .. that will wake him up. lets see him buy his latest girlfriend on that kinda income. at least i wont have to sit thru lyrics about how much money he has anymore.

I'm not prepared to write Prince off (I actually enjoyed Lotus Flower, though it's a far cry from his glory days), but if the new stuff is all as lousy as "Cause And Effect", why would you want that out there? Better he scrap it, start over, and release something good!
