This thread has shocked me. And believe when I say, I'm not easily shocked. I've always wondered how cults start. How can people be THAT gullible?..ARE people that delluded?

This thread answers those questions. It's scary.

And the scariest thing of all, if you asked Prince if he thought he was a prophet, he'd either laugh in your face or be really offended at the idol worship.

I agree with everything except the last sentence. Prince has had a messiah complex for the better part of his career, though I suppose to be fair, a good many artists do.

But indeed, the idea of this thread alone is frightening and hilarious wrapped up into one big ball of Jesus H. Christ people, get a fucking grip.
No hard feelings.

What's appalling and heart-warming in equal measure here is that a legitimate point of discussion flipped onto whether Sheena Easton has red pubes without skipping a beat.

Prince needs to listen to 'Tender Love' by the Force MD's,
so that he can start prophesising about LOVE again...not
that he stopped wink

I am posing a question. A Prophet is a real person, Jesus was a prophet, Moses was a Prophet. Is Prince a Prophet? simple question.

I think you're onto something here. Moses parted the Red Sea. Prince parted the red v (assuming Sheena Easton is a natural redhead).

Well it's so obvious that he is. I mean, he rides a Pegasus in the nude. And that beats the shit out of wandering through the desert like a jackass for a few centuries (Moses, I am looking at you).

So now that we all know Prince is a Prophet, what does that make Tony M?

Is this from welcome 2the dawn?

Well he was wrong about the vikings going to and/or winning the superbowl..unless this vision came a year early...He is indeed in touch with his mind body and spirit....and if not a prophet..I would for sure call him enlightend...many of his lyrics point to the light of it possible that he is prophetic..he is definatly one to watch and listen to as I believe him using divine right for the good of man...Only as the future unfolds will we ever know..even he said "Are there really angels? The truth come out in the wash..In time"
Every one can talk to God....But inspiration comes only to those quiet and patient enough to listen and hear His instructions.

OK, so I'm one of the more down-to-earth and criticla poster here, i think. Still, I do feel like making a confession here:
Back in the early days, I liked going along with the Prince multiple-meaning mindgames. I got into the whole Prince thing - the music, the lyrics, the way he played with his persona/image and the sense that it was evolving in some kind of mega-story. I liked entertaining the illusion of some kind of messiah story folding out, insomuch as it fitted in with my own beliefs and ideas. Like many - I was looking fwd to seeing if The dawn would ever eventuate.
Now - that doesn't mean I "believed" P was a "prophet" in a literal or commonplace sense. Still, belief in an undefinable divinity allows for recognition of expressions of inspiration so transcendent that they appear to be "divine", This is, of course, subjective - for me the sublime awe I have felt in experiencing Prince's artistic product at times allowed me to make this connection.
There were times when it seemed that this was a cool fancy to entertain - the vision of the dawn seemed to be one of peace and harmony with everyone loving one another. The love41another projects and the early internet excursions seemed to make this seem like a practical (non-threatening possibility: people connecting amorphously, independently and freely, engaging in food drives, empowerment of single mothers, urban roof gardens etc. It all sounded cool. The visions were those of "Sexuality" and "New World" and most of the "prophecies" were ambiguous or phrased as questions which was cool with my open-ended attitude.
I loved "The War" and "exodus" and all that imagery too.

Around '97, though, things started to change. The web "collective" and the Cease and desist letters created bad feeling.
Then NPS and Rave happened and there was a sense that the vision had gone sour.
I was at the 2000 Celly - had great fun, but felt far from divine inspiration (the concert was still awesone, though...).
Then when TRC dropped (which I love, BTW) I felt alienated: thinbly veiled antisemitism, promotion of an exclusivist creed, the question marks had been replaced with exclamation marks and I no longer felt there was an open invitation to a better future.

Still, it had that Rainbow children image, which was cool. He seems to vacillate these days between an image of: "everyone get together", and "you're either in, or you're out" (there may not be that much difference).
I preferred:
"When the lines blur, between the boy and girl, how you gonna make it in this brave, new world?"
to
"Get on the boat! There's room for a 100 more"
"We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

"That's becuase we're soulless auttomatons"

For (my) the last time....

To me(!) Prince cannot/is be a prophet!!!!

Why not? I am not a Jehova's witness (and probably will never be wink)...so to some he may be one and to others not!!! Prophecy is not restricted to a 'religion'..... To some 'Mohammed' is a prophet too...

The Bible has many interpretations....(which one is true wink)...

Prince is not a Prophet.. He is a musician that makes music, and since he can get
through masses of people his messages in his music could be bad or good. Music is the "Divine Message" meaning it has power. Some artists use it for the good, some use it for the bad..

And PRINCE SINGS ABOUT ..MAINLY ..love. The music is the message, PRINCE IS THE MESSENGER.

Thank U theRight1 for pointing to what I was alluding to.
David Wilcocks' understanding encompasses the belief that:

"The bottom line.... IS
The only thing that matters is how much Love you are willing to share."

So when I say Prince is a Prophet this is what I meant. Prince knew long ago that "God is Love and Love is God"

yes heart

Thank you colorblu for saying what I was trying to say.

My icon is a piss take of the Granada logo mixed with Prince's daft name change symbol.

The website I am on is a Prince fan community.

Prince isn't god.

Prince isn't a prophet.

Prince is a man. His shit stinks just as much as anyone else's.

Stop making him into something he's not. He's a talented bloke who writes songs, most are good, some are crud.

This is a singer's unnoficial fan website. That is all.

Oh and I don't even know what loafers are, to be honest. I'm wearing adidas trainers, if you really want to know. Prince worship & foot fetishist... The hours must just fly by.

This is what you said. I actually did hope it was a joke, because I find it offensive. Don't for one minute think that just because I have mentioned being an atheist that I am not respectful of religion.

What you said above would at one time have been considered blasphemous.

I sincerely hoped it was a joke and made light of it because there are people who would be incredibly offended by what you wrote.

If you want to start a cult and worship Prince, fine. But don't insult other people's beliefs and try to shoehorn Prince into christianity as a prophet.

These are my final words on this matter anyway, as nobody wins an argument and I really don't have the time or patience to deal with someone who thinks a pop star is a prophet. eek good luck with that.

Have a nice life.
