Prince vs. other celebs

Have u ever wanted Prince to do something that other celebs do? I am not saying Prince isn't a pioneer but have u ever seen something another celeb has done and said that would be nice if Prince did it first or if he would do it. It can be advertise, photos, music, websites, products.

I will start:

I would like to see him design a shoe line for both woman and men(that want to rock those boots).

I would love to see him do a clothing line (it doesn't have to be something he wears but something cool other than t-shirts)

I would love to see him do a Mtv cribs even if the place was rented. ( I know we have seen pictures and even a house on T.V. but when I said Cribs I mean him giving us a tour and telling us about his house and why he likes it.)

Nope - rather he just focuses on making music. Certainly wouldn't want to see him start advertising stuff!! no no no!

He's had a dalliance with merchandising in the past - I remember his shop in Camden which was full of awful perfumes, mugs and candles. I don't think it worked out for him then and he'd probably do a lot worse with a clothing line - he's the man who puts on something no one else would dare, right? wink

Prince already did advertising:

according the "Yellow" boot: Prince wrote the "Uh-Huh" song for Pepsi (or did he only co-write it?),

Prince has (also) being sponsored/ advertising for Coca-Cola.

MAN, that would be great. And the show should be filmed in the format like "The Office" and "Modern Family." Ha ha. lol

I'd like to see him make an instructional "Learn Guitar" DVD, like Larry Graham, Louis Johnson, and several other musicians did for their instruments. I would buy that just to hear how he would explain the process of playing. But he would never open up to teach anyone like that. disbelief

MrGravyLumps

He's done plenty already and in some areas he's a living pioneer, especially when it comes down to practicing his very profession. Using unconventional ways to distribute his work comes to mind first. Of course, stuff like that have always been the case with other certain artists too, as Pearl Jam and not to mention, David Bowie. To my knowledge Prince hasn't done an Internet concert live yet.

Prince had his own nightclub in the 90's and a store in MPLS and London where you could buy Prince merchandise. Oh, and he even got into fragrance business with Get Wild. Some of you folks may still own the perfume bottle, if not content itself and the Glam Slam nightclub is familiar to many.

Somebody mentioned shoe business. How about a going into business with flip flops, eh? You know, the kinds he used to wear in public at one point. Blech!

Oh, this picture brings back memories. The only Prince concert I've ever been to so far was in Stockholm in 1993 and this poster was the shit, not to mention the gig itself. Wow! No party will ever better that!

He wrote the bass-line, from what I've heard. Hardly blatant advertising tho, is it - I mean, MJ, Britney and others, they all appeared in the advert and tied themselves distinctly to the brand. Prince's contribution was so subtle, most people don't even know that he's done it.

Its so subtle, that just 2 years later, Coca-Cola are sponsoring his tour! They wouldn't have done that if Prince had an obvious tie with Pepsi.

Anyways, a tour sponsorship and one bass-line for a jingle that no-one even knew was him in a 30-year career is hardly Prince selling out or being a marketing tool! I've no objection to him earning a dollar by writing a jingle or something, just wouldn't want to see him plastered on the telly with Brand X!

Umm - create a decent free website where his music and videos are available or sold along with regular exra stuff available for purchase plus info and updates and interactive stuff like, say:
okgo.net
"We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

"That's becuase we're soulless auttomatons"

Then that will never happen. So move on.

Two different homes of Prince, over the years in Los Angeles, have been featured in magazines and on television. There's an Entertainment Tonight segment that showed his house, when 3121 came out. There was another report or magazine spread somewhere quite a few years ago that showed his rented house in Los Angeles with the big overstuffed couches with curled arms, and bright colors. He was also featured on Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous years ago, I believe.

NONSENSE

I think it would be cool if Prince wrote his own biography. You know like Miles Davis did. His own words. Perhaps, not this year but soon. Who wouldn't like to get his take on the many things he has experienced, His life, the music, loves and lovers, everything.
