It had some very good moments, I'll give it that. The stupid hairdos and the pajamas and the requisite rapper guy tainted the whole Prince thing for me though.

I think he felt no choice but to maneuver the pop currents at the time - and that just wasn't cool. Prince used to be the guy people maneuvered for.

I actually prefer Enerst's slimmed and trimmed version of this album to the original.

The original sounded like Prince suddenly thought: "Hey all the European dance acts have rap in them .. I'll get rap too, but make it sound fierce and adult, street y'all".. and failed due to the wrong rapper and a little too much sugar in the cake.

But I must also admit, that the entire 1990-1995 production is lost on me (from Graffiti Bridge and forward). It's just .. too clean.
