I am so envious!

I have seen a lot of great acts live... from big productions like Parliament or Black Sabbath to club stuff like Bauhaus and Robyn Hitchcock... but I have never been able to hit up a Prince show. Prince live is a big gaping hole on the ol' "to do list." Fortunately I live in Chicago, so ya gotta think sooner or later this is going to work out...

Twice but it was years after his heyday. 1997 and 2004. 1997 meant more to me because the concert was in my city and I didn't have to go out of town. Plus, he wasn't changing lyrics with rediculous replacement words yet.

I was going to see him in early 1985 on the "Purple Rain" tour. It was my senior year in high school and my mother was going to drive me and a friend or two to New Orleans and we were all going to attend. It rarely snows in Mississippi but it started snowing very heavily that Friday morning and we were snowed in all that weekend. And to make matters worse, all the damned snow melted Sunday night just in time for us to go to school on Monday morning.

Parade '86 - P and Revolution - My first ever concert by anyone and therefore quite an experience. '17 Days' stood out for me that night

Lovesexy '88 - the best concert I've ever been to. Truly good. Mavis on stage with him doing 'Heaven - I'll take you there' - oh, the joy.

One Nite Alone '02 - Flew over from Istanbul to London for this one. Wonderful band.

21 Nights in London - for me there were 6 nights. The first show at Koko - incredible. 5 main shows at the O2 and two aftershows at Indigo 2 - so many highlights. 'Something in the water...' 'Beautiful Strange' 'Empty Room' 'Party Up' A Love Bizarre' Truly the best summer I've had for a while.

Empire Club Vegas - May, 2006 - both nights plus both Soundchecks - got called on stage by Prince at the first show on Saturday, and danced on stage with Tamar and the Twins. It was fun...fun memories!

Bryant Park, NYC - June, 2006

Good view, was in the very front; less than 2 feet from seeing Prince perform as well as Tamar. There was no stage, so Prince was directly across from the crowd right there on the floor. I was in front, center with other fans. I got to sing into the microphone for a bit, when Prince was singing "Kiss", and he was extending the mic to other fans as well, who were in the front and second lines of the audience, as he sang/performed it.

The most fun part of that show, was when Prince pulled a fan (female) on the floor to dance with him. It was so cute, because Prince was having a good time with the crowd, and was getting down dancing, as some fans chanted "Go Prince, go Prince" when he was dancing. It was like being right there in Prince's living room with 100 NPGMC fans in attendance partying with him, and the club was very small. I got 2 guitar pics;one from his guitar tech, and a broken one that was on the floor, when Prince left to take a 5 minute break. Beyonce, JayZ, Paris Hilton, ?Quest played drums during a performance as well. Other celebrities were there, but the fans were too busy having fun with Prince's performance, to pay the celebrities who were there, any attention.

Rio at the 3121 Club -Opening Night November 2006 (?) Opening weekend - both nights; me and some other fans had our pictures taken before the show while we were waiting on line, by one of Prince's former male asst. who asked if he could take our pictures, and just before the show started, once we were inside Club 3121. before we knew it, our pictures were flashed on all 12 giant screens, as well as other fans' pics who were lucky enough to be asked to have their pics taken that night. When everyone saw their pictures, flashing on 12 giant screens, they all let out a hoop and holla! Great and fun experience!

The pic I took with the other 3 ladies, were flashed first on the screen, and I can't tell you how shocked and surprised we were to see it, as it was not expected. We were so shocked and surprised, because we had no idea, that's where our pictures would be shown. Those images were shown that entire weekend, just before the show started and when the show was finished. How great was that? Unforgettable memories to say the least!

Rio in Vegas - at the 3121 Club March, 2007 - 2 shows, On the second night, Prince handed out 3 mock maroccas to 3 fans, and I was one of them. (yay!) I also got to high-five Prince, along with other fans. Also got into the outer room, for the aftershow;not the actual room where band played on second night;only saw about 5 minutes of the aftershow.

Macy's show/Target Show in Minneapolis on 07/07/07

Gansevoort Hotel in NYC- October 2008 - won a free ticket to second performance (aftershow) through the Org site, during a contest that was held in conjunction with Prince's team, where fans participated to win free tkts either the first or second performance. They were giving some of the attendees Purple Square candle boxes with the Prince Symbol. I have one and have it nicely tucked away with all my Prince souvenirs.

I have to say that 2006 was one of the best years for me seeing Prince perform. It was fun hearing and seeing him perform "3121" in so many different ways between 2006 and 2007; and the fan participation at the shows when he sang it, while audience members displayed the 3121 hand sign, as we sang along with Prince. Fun days, fun times and the best memories.
