Have you ever attended a prince concert?

So I was just wondering how many of you all have be able to experience the magic of one of his concert tours.. How many have you gone to? Did you like one better than the other? Why? And for all of you that have gone just know (I'm jealous very jealous) wink

I'm 24 and been a fan of "P" since I was a child. But Truly found great respect for his music at about age 20 or so.. I dont know if I will ever be fortunate enough to experience a concert.. I'm gonna cross my fingers though wink But until then I'm gonna have to live it through you guys! And my dvd collection.

I would have just died to be able to see (Prince and the Revolution) live..

So for all you out there (enlighten) me was it the best experience of your life? or not so much...
lol

First time I saw him was on the LOVESEXY tour, saw it twice. I was a young teen at the time and it 4 ever changed me.....
Have seen him on the Emancipation tour twice plus an aftershow...the HitnRun tour in 98/ and Musicology tour in 2004, had centerstage 3rd row on two of the shows...got to see him up close and it is surreal...
Nothin compares to the lovesexy tour tho.

I've only been to a few but I'll try to enlighten you.
Rick James w/special guest PRINCE - Great show. Rick James was boring though
Dirty Mind first leg w/special guest Tina Marie - Great double bill. Prince was coming into his own.
Dirty Mind second leg - Club setting. On of the best concerts I've ever been to.
Prince introduced some new tunes and played "Crazy You" from his 1st album.
Prince Controversy tour w/special guest the TIME - It's getting scary now. You could see that Prince was getting serious about being the best there is. The Time were pure "wicked"
Prince Triple Threat tour w/special guest Vanity 6 and The TIME - What can I say? It's for real now and they aren't taking any prisoners.
Prince Lovesexy tour - Sound problems plagued the night. The performance wasn't the best I've seen by far from Prince. It was a bit over produced for my taste but a lot of people liked it so.....
Prince Musicoligy tour - Again one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
Prince Musicoligy tour 2nd city - 1st one was much better. Sound issues were the problem during the first half. By the time the acoustic set started the sound issues were corrected.
Hope this helps a bit biggrin

06 NOV, 1988 - Los Angeles, CA, USA – Memorial Sports Arena

And it was fucking brazilliant!!!!! Apollonia was there in the audience, signing tour books. She tried to get in under the stage, but they refused her. (Prince wasn't under there before the show anyway.)

Several since Purple Rain tour 1985. Approx. 8 shows. Loved every one! Hope all Prince fans get to see him perform live before he performs no more.
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

I've seen Prince play 4 times...

Act II Tour, Sheffield Arena, 1993
Ultimate Live Experience (Gold Experience), Sheffield Arena, 1995
One Nite Alone Tour, Manchester Appollo, 2002
Earth Tour, London O2 Arena, 2007

Hit and Run
3 Musicology concerts

The best: The third night of Musicology in D.C. - Sheer magic.
Second best: 1st Night of Musicology in D.C. - Got to experience this with my mom. It's always fun to see your mom dance to Prince, lol.

97" Jam of the year- Great concert
98" with Larry Graham & Chaka- ok concert, didn't pick up steam until "Let's Work" and "Delirious" Prince was two hrs late for this show, and many people were kinda angry with the purple one in Indy that night.
02" One nite alone - to be honest, I kinda liked this concert TRC was not a bad album once you got through the first five or six tracks...maybe I am being biased, because I used to blaze up quite a bit to this album blunt
04" Musicology Tour - What can I say, great concert! smile I felt like I was going to spontaneously combust during "DMSR"! excited THAT IS MY JAM!!!

I'm not nitpicking but that just doesnt seem to make chronological sense to me. Considering the Gold Experience Tour was in 1995 and Diamonds and Pearls 1992. But hey, maybe I'm wrong!

There were about 3 that were "less than" for different reasons, but I feel fortunate to have had so many experiences. biggrin

oh yeah!
parade tour wemley arena 86
sign of the times paris 87 (claim to fame i got greg brooks autograph)
lovesexy 88 x 2 @ wembley arena & nec birmingham
nude tour 90 nec birmingham
parade, sign & lovesexy looking back were some of the best times of my life.
By the time the nude tour came along i had moved on to hip hop in 89 then to reggae .
I sold my collection through out 1990,i had some rare stuff to years of going to record fairs.
It's only this year i've really started to re-listen to p but must admit i'm stuck in the 78 - 90 era

I know alot of people, people who I wouldn't have guessed of in a million years, whose been to a concert of his. Nothing but "eek" faces and abundantly positive remarks.

A P concert is up there on my to do before I die lists.. or more like before he dies lol
Thing is that they're so random and pricey these days... lowering my chances of ever catching him live sad
