P & WB - literally a romance gone sour? Just heard "We Can Work It Out" (from '77) and when he mentions WB at the end it almost sounds like he's at the beginning of a love affair.
The tone and content of ICPAC from Musicology indicate that in many ways P saw and felt it this way and his actions seem often to reflect a jilted and/or bitter lover. Thoughts? "We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

ICPAC? That's the stuff you drink to induce vomiting right? If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I thought ICPAC was a song about an old lady with a glow in the dark nose who was up on her cutlery but shit at the funky chicken. Erik blah blah blah

I: Prince made beautiful music during the Warner Bros. years: from For You to Gold Experience. II: Prince became a free artist and the quality went down. No more hit singles, and only half-good/ or half-bad albums. 1978 to 1995 will remain outstanding, I don't think he will ever reach that level again. Prince 4Ever.

Prince has daddy issues, so if you wanna break it down psychologically, I'd go with a daddy/son thing, rather than lovers.

Well, no, because that's the incorrect use of "literally".
However, as far as Prince playing the martyr, it's definitely a daddy/son thing. When he didn't get his way, he pouted and acted out; Then when he turned 18, he was allowed to move out and be on his own. (HA - it's funny how the relationship lasted almost exactly 18 years).

I don't prefer the abbreviations of a song title.
"Illusion, Coma, Pimp, and Circumstance." Love this fun song. I can never exactly pin-point where Prince is coming from with this song. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

OK, so the song abbreviations are due to laziness - apologies to those that it disturbs.
As for "literally" - I used it figuratively No, really, I did mean did he treat his relationship with Warner's as a romance, literally (from his P.O.V.). I think you can have literal romances with entities other than an individual partner. My suggestion was that the allusions at the end of We Can Work It Out (from the beginning of the relationship) and Illusion, Coma, Pimp and Citcumstance (from the end) drew from a parallel with a romantic relationship, indicating that P saw it that way... Oh, and the quote at the end of We Can Work It Out is: "Makin' music naturally, me and WB" [Edited 2/2/10 11:09am] "We've never been able to pull off a funk number"
