'Te Amo Corazon' is one of Prince's great songs of the past decade, without any doubt. So much happening here I still haven't absorbed it all properly. The strings are divine, the composition is first rate, the arrangements are really cream of the crop, and the vocal deliveries with guitar undertones are marvellous. So subtle that it might go over many people's heads, and that is understandable, but it is a golden nugget on an album full of treasures.

One of his absolute best, i was just listening to the other day and the production is by far the absolute best in 25 years. The Clair Fischer strings and the guitar are absolutely gorgeous.
I get a kick out of people on here that would dog this song or "Solo" because it shows the lack of sophistication of a lot of the fans here, lol
If he actually listened to some of the folks here it should be of no surprise for the dumbed down MplSound type music of the last couple of decades.

Completely agree. It amazes me how often Prince's fans talk about his "superior" songcraft and musicianship compared to other pop artists and then rubbish his more sophisticated compositions. Admittedly CF's orchestration is the most brilliant part of the arrangement, but as a whole it's a gorgeous track.

And put me down as a fan of "Solo" too (save for a particular moment of clunky editing).

Agree. Another very poor choice as a lead. He NEVER get`s this right does he??
As 4 the song it`s almost haunting & the vocals are very understated. Beautiful strings!

YAY! I LOVE this song. It seems I like the songs that most fans don't like.

prince ballads seem to hold up better than his upbeat tunes this last decade .. and thats the problem .. too many ballads ... but this one is great one of the better songs on 3121 or in the last decade .. one of the few lyrically uncringeable songs he has done recently .. i say yay ... i wish he wrote funky songs with this much taste

"The One" was only available on a single from NPGMC. It wasn't as widely promoted, despite having a video, as perhaps "Come On" was later on, which had a big maxi single in some areas.

Also to add:
"Paisley Park" - ATWIAD which is slower than the mid-tempo TGRES

The video for The One was on Rotation on MTV (in europe), but I've never ever seen the video for Come on on television.

Both were on TV, a lot.

"The One" was only available on 1-800-NEW-FUNK maxi-single of "Come On".

Not here in europe (germany to be exact). But it doesn't matter if The One was available as physical single or not. It was the first song and video prince chose to promote the album, just like Te amo corazon.

MCSlomo is the host of the Peach and Black podcast by the way. I don't think it is a great song, but I can see why people would like it. It does hit you in a subtle way.

The funny thing is to see people hate on this song and Solo but overrate tripe like Dance 4 Me or No Candy 4 U, two awful songs.
All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

I believe Ludwig is right biggrin

"The One" was on rotation on MTV (UK/ Nordic) and VH1 in Europe (Denmark), Prince was named "The Artist", not NPG or the prince symbol or The Artist Formerly Known As Prince - simply only just "The Artist".

"Come On" wasn't in rotation at all, I have only seen this video as part of a BBC program....

I didn't like it much at first, but it's one of the most musically sophisticated songs Prince has done in a long, long time.

So yeah I really dig it now.
