Guitar: #865 in top 1000 over the zeroes

This week on Dutch radio 3fm, they broadcast a top 1000 of songs of the past decade. Compiled by the listeners. Prince is ther 1 time, with Guitar on #865.
http://presents.3fm.nl/pa...oek=prince

Of cours, one can argue if that should have been higher or lower. But to me, it seems to fit:
Should Prince be in that top 1000? Yes
Wich songs (singles) would fit in? Guitar
What ranking would be ok? somewhere in the last 1/3.

(BTW Coldplay is at nr 1)

I'm surprised that Musicology didn't feature as it had a decent amount of radio and mtv-play and is a much better song.

^ yeah, Musicology (song) and also Black Sweat are better songs, these had more hit potential imo - than Guitar.

still it's cool to see Prince on a list like that biggrin

"Popular" music as in chart music in the last 10-15 years has been mainly horse shit.....in the UK anyway.

Theres good music out there but you need to look for it. If you look at the charts in the 50's through till 95 you can pick out some great tunes, since then its over-produced, thin beated, cover version, corporate shite.

I'd put every Prince song from 2000 onwards at the top, followed by a few good hip hop tunes,, after that i'd be struggling to name anything of any merit that your average Joe Idiot would of heard.

That's not true! lol When you compare Parachutes to Viva La Vida, it's two different albums. IMO, their albums are much better than last two U2's albums.

Translation
Freeky Deeky Dutch to English

Allthough I saw the videos of Fury and Black Sweat coming by on televison (TMF channel ( dutch MTV ) )

Besides, I totally disagree with this song list. Becasuse the top ranked songs are also the most ( redicules ) recently produced songs.

Long live the Freeky Deeky Dutch cool weed

(btw, it was very odd to see that only Parisians and freeky deeky dutch people attended the Paris concerts last year biggrin )

wow, even jughead over Coldplay wink

Of course the hitlist is compiled by the audience of 3fm. But it does not really come as a surprise that Coldplay is at the first and alot of other places in that countdown.
I would not really know how to describe the audience-profile of 3fm. It is a pop-station that plays just about everything from top 40 to classic rock. It is slightly progressive(?).
So Prince is in their scope because of his past and not so much for his current music.

It ain't that social and polite to talk dutch while just a few can understand what we're saying.

I'm sorry.

I know they respect Prince,

Housequake was at # 1 in the top 10 songs about Haiti earlier this week.
Very funny lol, but also very cruel confused
