Newflash! Prince is arrogant, scene stealing and competitive. It was a clapton solo, given to a man petty enough to call out Johnny Lang when he's playing the blues lol. Come on now, are we the least bit surprised he wants to wreck every fuckin stage he steps on after all of this time?.

This is not breaking news but....

Just wanted to know if people have commented on PRince's disgraceful petulance at the end of his excellent guitar solo on the While MY Guitar Gently Weeps tribute to George Harrison. He drops his guitar on the stage and walks off without a word while Paul Mccartney and other music greats are still on it.

What a shame such great talent was wasted on such a petulant, self obsessed bloke... and his fans have had a decade of mostly self-indulgent music as a result.

Oh the shame the shame!!!!

Is that Wacko from beyond the grave?

SkyWalker,

Much props to you for a thoughtful and engaging difference of opinion.

Princefamatics take note: this is how you discuss controversial topics..with respect and decorum.

This is a discussion forum..to suggest some opinions don't matter is to make a mockery of discussion forums and to claim that controversial topics are off limits is first, very un-Prince (Controversy anyone?) and second turns you into a cult member..grow up and move on...

THe performance was exceptional, that's not the point...but his arrogant throwing of his guitar and strutting off stage, as if to say: "I own all your aSSES" when Paul Mccartney (unless the white bloke playing piano on the left of the stage is a look alike) and other musicians are also playing on a tribute for GEORGE HARRISON (hint: it aint supposed to be Prince's moment) is utterly pathetic...

The fact that he gets away with it because of the quality of his playing is not the point...the bloke lacks class and humility and shows it during a tribute to a late great artist. Period. And on that note:

THECHIEF...you get a life mate..you're the one who is posting nothing but invective and 'blahs' rather than making a thoughtful comment...

Nuff Said....

I see your point, but disagree.

It was a very Rock N' Roll move to do it, and no one involved felt disrespected as far as I can tell.

You are right that it was a tribute to Harrison, but it was Prince's night overall. That's how Vh1 and the Hall of Fame presented it anyways.

I thought it was cocky, arrogant, and very Prince. He owned that moment.

How many times has "tossing off his guitar" been mention in this thread? Okay, so it was "tossing of" not "off", but it's close!

1. Paul McCartney was not performing.

2. None of the other performers have commented that they took it the way you have decribed it.

3. George's son, who was performing, loved the performance and commented immediately afterwards that he wanted to thank Prince.
.[/quott in Prince e]
that performance is released on DVD = one of the greatest ever

It's called Rock & Roll darling.

Please go back and listen to your political correct, polite, given music.
