Welcome back, BigChick. How is life on the other side? Is it everything I have heard it is?[/quote]
Well, actually pretty good until I heard "Purple and Gold". Man that part in the song where it goes "We come in the Name of The Purple & Gold" made me rise from the grave. It was like a zombie calling card. You know when you've "passed on", You will have the ability to listen to all of Prince's vault material, so dont ever worry about that subject again. In fact I was just listening to "Come Elektra Tuesday" before I got pulled into this.

for your listening pleasure... VIKING FURY! You musta heard it on the news today congratulations! new game to play In Brees' side, Favre's a thorn There ain't no fury, like a Packer scorned The offense dug it, when he did his thing He's like a bell the Saint's wanna ring When the play is over, Brett's gonna sing Pants On The Ground...where's my third string? Where's my third string baby? He sent a message saying don't try to reach him on the phone He isn't gonna answer 'cause he's so afraid, they'll probably sack him in his own end zone! The Packers heard he had another plan He's making money and purple fans They feel let down, but they need to understand Word on the field, he's still 'da man Look out, here comes another play now the Vikings got a good reason to say Everything that's on their mind on game day Even though bones might get broken Who's the guilty one, if there ain't no ref to worry? Third down on the one, who's gonna run? Hell ain't got no...Fury! Two sides to every story Defensive gloom, and offense glory Props to the Vikings, for being reborn There ain't no fury, like a Packer scorned. ok, so they're posting on facebook that apparently Prince is annoyed or unhappy with the critical reaction to his song.
Is this true. Does anyone have sources?

Is this true. Does anyone have sources? He's outraged that people just "dont get it." Isn't that his normal reaction when people tell him his shit stinks? The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

Brofie said: Who said it is supposed to be a stadium anthem? Prince is a genius beyond the comprehension of many low brow consumers so if it is loss on the knuckle dragging muscially illiterate majority, so be it. No one rocks like Prince - no one.
ahh yes, the over compensating sense of superiority that betrays your obvious insecurities. if other people don't like it, it's because they are low brow, knuckle draggers who can't identify genius like you can. being a Prince fan for you has nothing to do about Prince, it has to do with your own need to say you are different than everyone else, and that difference makes you better. they are low brow, you are enlightened. whatever. thinking this song is terrible doesn't reflect anything negative on that person. your asinine post, on the other hand, clearly reveals who the low brow, knuckle dragger is, and he lives in your mirror. I actually kind of like it. I imagine it would sound awesome if the Vikes win and Prince gets to perform it live when they receiving their trophies and shit. It sounds a little soft, but I'm sure he would funk it up for a live stadium performance. I am simply better than you...end of story.

*Late* This is the funniest thread I've seen on here in years. Thanks for the laughs, Prince.
I actually don't think the song is that terrible, but it's a hybrid of a traditional fight song and a Prince song, and it doesn't work as either.

I have to say that, reading all this critical comment, that people are going a little over the top .
I quite like it - for what it is - a football song. It has a kind of 20s-30s vibe when people used to take things like football songs seriously and be all earnest about them - which I think is kind of an interesting thing to do in our irony-driven age. As someone who lived in the US for a few years, and who is now back in the UK, I like it for its "Americana-nostalgia" - it reminds me of that movie "Leatherheads", or "America the beautiful", or a whole bunch of other American sounding tunes that nobody really makes anymore. So, I can understand why people aren't that keen, since its not what you expect from a "Rock-star", but I admire Prince for doing something a bit different, and like it as a little slice of old American culture delivered in a new way. The critical reaction says a lot more about us and our expectations than it does about the song. And finally, I am sure this has been answered, but its two threads and nigh on 40 pages - who is the woman singing it with him?

After playing it a few times, I kind of like it. It's almost so bad, it's good. And it's also comforting to hear that Prince can still write a decent bridge. I thought those days were behind him.
