Prince: Duets - A New Album?

No, he doesn't have a new album coming out, but if you think about it, there is more than enough material for a duets compilation. Based on a current thread about "Love Song" with Madonna, I decided to throw together my own duets compilation idea. Throw on a couple of new songs we've not heard, and it'd be a great release. Some of the songs listed would have to be edited from the original version to make it a duet (because we know there's a Prince guide vocal version somewhere):

So Far, So Pleased (with Gwen Stefani)
U Got The Look (with Sheena Easton)
U Make My Sun Shine (with Angie Stone)
Baby Knows (with Sheryl Crow)
God Is Alive (with Mavis Staples)
Lovesign (with Nona Gaye)
Love Song (with Madonna)
Yellow (with Sheila E.)
Take Me With U (with Apollonia)
Hot With U (with Eve)
Diamonds and Pearls (with Rosie Gaines)
Beautiful, Loved & Blessed (with Tamar)
A Love Bizarre (with Sheila E.)
Nothing Compares 2 U (with Rosie Gaines)
The Arms of Orion (with Sheena Easton)
The Most Beautiful U In The World (with Mayte) (yep, I mixed this one)

I'm sure I missed a few. I don't consider things like "gett off" a duet, despite Rosie and Tony M., on it simply because they were just in the band, and of course their vocals will be on the track. However on the other side of that coin, "Diamonds and Pearls" is much more of a "duet". I included an Eve collaboration, but didn't put stuff like "Chocolate Box. It's a draw really. Prince can also be heard on The Time and Sheila E. tracks, but it's just his guide vocal under it all, not a true "duet". Plus, you can only put so many songs on 1 disk. If it was stretched to two disks, it would seem lame and desperate.

The cover of the CD could be just each one of those pictures where it's a collage of much smaller pictures (multiple shots of the females) making up one larger picture (of Prince) (like this one). Or just multiple square pictures, in a grid format, of each female listed.

Honestly, I think Prince's duets are mostly quite underwhelming. He doesn't the utilize the other vocalist's strengths and there is no chemistry with any of them.

I somewhat agree. I love the duets he's done with Rosie Gains!! The others, not so much,

Not really. Many artists have released compilations based on a specific idea (ballads, past duets, etc).

Name a good one but besides that Prince isn't very good at keeping a concept together to bring it to a finish and the idea of bring a bunch of people together to sing duets with him would probable bore him after the first artist has left the building.
This of course if it was a new album of duets rather then the list (I wouldn't go as far as calling it a tracklist)of songs you presented abovewhich many of which were just fillers

OK THEN SLOWLY FOR ERNESTSEWELL

YOU SAID " Not really. Many artists have released compilations based on a specific idea LIKE DUETS"
I SAID NAME ONE GOOD ALBUM FROM THIS CATEGORY.

THEN I SAID MOST OF THE SONGS IN YOUR LIST OF DUETS WERE FILLERS, FOR EXAMPLE THE THREE FROM "RAVE" ...IN FACT THE ONLY SONG THAT STANDS OUT IS "A Love Bizarre" (with SHEILA E.)

ALWAYS HERE TO HELP

I`d buy it, but then again i`d buy just about any album from him. He`d never do it but it would b cool. Guess the best we can do is make our own compilations just like u`ve done.

And that's all it's about. Just groups some songs together in a play list for the sake of a certain theme. I have play lists I did on a whim that include the words "Sex", "rain", and "pray" (3 different lists), just because. The duet playlist would be an interesting listen on things. It's the same thing if people put Prince's "god" songs into one list, like "I Wish U Heaven", "Anna Stesia", "God", stuff like that. I'd like to see a real album of duets, but for now, as you said, this is what we have to work with.

I actually have a ton of these "themed" playlists. My fav rite now is one I call Prince Does Covers. I get a lot of enjoyed listening from that.

Given that idea, I would think "U Got The Look" is a good example of the chemistry in a song, whereas perhaps maybe something like "So Far, So Pleased", it's lacking.

Yep, other than the Shaila songs, I'd take that one. In fact, i might even say it's his "best" duet. I prefer A Love Bizarre as a song, but the duet aspect does not add as much as it does on UGTL

Not with the question mark in the title. And you've obviously ignored the first sentence which says:

No, he doesn't have a new album coming out

Don't cherry pick on my thread because you got all butt hurt on another. no no no!

Yep. I'd say on a lot of those songs, either Prince or the lady in question is merely doing back-up vocals:

Yellow

Baby Knows

Take Me With U
