1999 videos Were all the 1999 videos filmed on the same day? I just realized how they all look alike might be a stupid question

Probably.
Maybe there was a 4 for 1 special or something! How can I stand 2 stay where I am? / Poor butterfly who don't understand.

I don't believe so, but I do think most of them were recorded while on tour, or in tour rehearsals, if memory serves.

I always liked the videos to 1999, especially a-u-t-omatic. The camera angles, the stage lighting, and Prince and "Revolution's" stage presence. Whoever directed those videos gets a thunbs up from me.

They certainly look like they were. Just a little re-dressing of the sets.

BTW. just a side note:
Prince was the first major black artist on MTV - not Michael Jackson: the "1999" music video had premiere on MTV in Dec 1982, later "Little Red Corvette" had premiere in march 1983. "Billie Jean", the first music video from "Triller" had premiere on MTV - also - in March 1983: Still Michael Jackson always gets that credit as being the first black artist, leading the way for Prince on MTV, not fair - and not true. Prince 4Ever.

They were all shot on the same set with minor cosmetic changes. Not sure if they were all shot on the same day though. Automatic was definitely the most interesting of the bunch. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I think "Automatic" was the first Prince video that showed how powerful his presence is on camera...especially the first part of the video...then it gets pretty weird with the S&M theme from the middle to the end of the video...but that was Prince back then...always able to push the envelope. It was easier to SHOCK people back then and Prince new that, as well as alot of other artist during that time period. Kiss, Ozzy, and Bowie I put in that bunch as well, now we have Lady Ga-Ga...what is the world coming to?
