Prince DVD! Im contemplating whether to purchase 'the glory years' but i dont know if its just everything ive already seen/heard repeated. Ive seen purple doves and most other interviews of prince. Is glory years good? Insightful?

it's a nice to have not a must have DVD as you will know most of what being said...but i like it! Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! London 21 Nights...Clap your hands...you know the rest..

I enjoyed it. Interesting opinions from relevant people during that particular time. If all you have seen is The Purple Dove Interviews, this would be a nice addition, imo. This unofficial documentary does have video clips as well. | |

It's a load of shit. Maybe if you're a new fan and don't already know much about him then it would be mildly entertaining, but otherwise it's just the same recycled crap you've heard a hundred times before.
For the record I thought Purple Doves was fairly decent, especially for an unofficial DVD. But seriously, I wouldn't waste your money on The Glory Years. Assuming you already have the official concert DVDs, see if you can track down some of the pro-shot bootleg DVDs circulating. The Beautiful Strange concert from London 1998 is a must-see. | |
