TV and radio presenter Noel Edmonds took over as host and oversaw the presentation of the one and only BPI Award for Best Comedy Record to Nigel Planer, in his guise of Neil from the Young Ones, who beat off competition from Alexei Sayle and Mel Brooks. Bob Geldof and Midge Ure’s efforts with Band Aid earned them a Special Award, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and their producer Trevor Horn were both winners at a show which also featured Prince – complete with a giant security guard – collecting his first BPI/BRIT Award. oh look at the winners list.... Best British Album Sade Tina Turner, Whats Love Got To Do With It 1985 sang live... Figures crossed he'll be on TV this weekend ! I think my favourite of his acceptance speaches is the 95 one with the wierd 'Prince best? Gold Experience better, on record slave, in concert free, peace get wild' or whatever it was!
