Loads of new / vault Prince - for a very long time...

For anyone who is interested, I happened to stumble across this little tidbit on the internet that some of you may find very intriguing. There have been a lot of naysayers on the org who have claimed that there probably isn't a 'vault' and that Prince's claim to have well over 500 songs written and completed is more then possibly more fictional then factual. I fell on this web address while searching for lyrics to a Prince song and though this was quite a trip... a somewhat partial list of Prince songs that obviously do exist. click on this link to see what you think for yourselves.
http://users.ids.net/~dmsr/v3251.html
When scanning through these tunes, you could tell that some of them weren't actually 'his' songs but were songs that included samples of his tunes that he gets credit and paid for. Since this list dates back to 1996 (and there are quite few titles of bootlegged tunes that we fans know exist but aren't on this list), from what I can see, Prince has got enough experiences to more then fulfill ALL his fams for many decades to come... smile

One day, likely when P is dead, someone will make a big deal of his unreleased material, his 'vault' and his extraordinary work patterns, and he will truly be regarded as one of the most prolific and most amazing artists of our time! Won't happen while he is alive, just when he has passed.

peace y'all

10% of that list are songs by other people, some of which
have nothing to do with Prince at all, except for the fact
that these artists at some point did a cover of a Prince
tune.

another 10% is released material. Another 10 % is known
unreleased Prince material.

And the other 70% is bogus. Someone just copied this short
piece of info from the Library of Congres and pasted their
own tracklist onto it.

Just read the titles, full of spelling mistakes

"backyeard" etc etc.

Even if more of those would be non-Prince tunes that just
had a sample in it or something, the list still contains
a whole truckload of fakes. No group in the world would
choose half of those titles. They're silly.

Some of these really don't sound like Prince song titles. And the spelling is quite bad on them.

"No Cones Allowed"?

"Open your eyessimale"?

"Termob charge"?

"The people of Somalia"?

"King Salassie I is coming"?

ROTFL

I believe the Library of Congress list has also been reviewed to support Uptown's research of Prince's unreleased material.

Therefore, a search in the Library of Congress records today seems to confirm what is recorded in Turn It Up 2.0. apart from later additions:

e.g. it shows that tapes were lodged last February for One Nite Alone, Xenophobia and Last December - presumably in anticipation of possible NPGMC 2002 releases. Inevitably, there is a time delay between Prince lodging material with the LoC and the records showing, and when I checked recently I could only identify one older recording which TIU 2.0 had not mentioned, which certainly seems to be Prince material.

Morbid though it is, I do agree with the above opinion. Only when he comes to pass will the true depth of his talent be appreciated by the wider music world and the gates of Pailsey Park will truly be open.

Having said that, I hope his time is a long way off. In the meantime I have no problem having to settle with bootlegs to satisfy my fascination, curiousity and apetite for his music.

"No Cones Allowed" is an actual Prince song. He wrote it for the movie "Coneheads", but it was never included in the movie.

Some of that list is shit, the rest is probably copied from DMSR/Turn It Up/Days Of Wild.

That's the only reliable info there is folks - no-one else other than Uptown has done any research at all.

This is also ill-informed. People other than Uptown research his songs - but Uptown does a very good job in publishing their research.
