Prince - The Brits

I cannot believe Princes performance on the Brits is not one of the outstandiong performances in the last 30 years!

These are the nominations;

BRITs Performance of Past 30 Years

Bee Gees Stayin’ Alive/How Deep is Your Love (1997)

Bros I Owe you Nothing (1989)

Coldplay Clocks (2003)

Eurythmics & Stevie Wonder Angel (1999)

Girls Aloud The Promise (2009)

Kanye West Gold Digger (2006)

Kylie Minogue Can’t Get You Out of my Head (2002)

Michael Jackson Earth Song (1996)

Paul McCartney Live & Let Die (2008)

Pet Shop Boys Go West (1994)

Robbie Williams & Tom Jones The Full Monty Medley (1998)

Scissor Sisters Take Your Mama (2005)

Spice Girls Wannabe/Who Do You Think You Are (1997)

Take That Beatles Medley - I Wanna Hold Your Hand/Hard Day’s Night/ She Loves Me (1994)

The Who Who Are You (1988)

Not one of them comes close to Princes performance!

Shows what the Brits organisers know!

That's odd. I can't think of any of those acts as being as good as Prince's performance. lol

The Brits are an extention of the record labels so I guess that answers your question neutral

1996? wasn't this where Jarvis Cocker from Pulp made a guest appearance on the stage lol

Haha that was funny, MJ and his "Jesus figure" was so ridiculed. I liked that stunt from Jarvis, I guess MJ fans were furious at him, imo. it was very funny.

wiki:

"Cocker invaded the stage at the 1996 BRIT Awards in a spur of the moment protest against Michael Jackson's performance. Jackson performed surrounded by children and a rabbi, while making 'Christ-like' poses and performing his recent hit, "Earth Song". Cocker and his friend Peter Mansell (a former Pulp member) performed an impromptu stage invasion in protest."

Prince's 1997 performance of Emancipation/We March was good but was lip-synched...so not that good!

In 2006 I thought the performance was brilliant, 4 songs, some new, some old, and was the best of the night. However he wasn't nominated for an award that night and I think his record company of the time, I think it was Universal(3121), bought the time 11 or 12 mins from the Brit organisers, and no doubt Prince owns the copyright.
