Phew...

Probably new material, but outtakes (we haven't heard of yet, in good quality) sound good too.

As for the live stuff, I'd rather have it on a full concert DVD.

I've heard so many live recordings from his concerts in the last few years, I think I've got a pretty good idea of where he's at live right now. As for outtakes, I think maybe he's not recording as prolifically as in his younger days. If the material that makes it to an album is anything to go by...
So I'd like to hear new material, and I hope he keeps along the angry socio-policital lines of Dreamer, and less so the shallow commentary of Dear Mr Man. There were many tracks from the last album that had a great edge, like Feel Better, and No More Candy. I think what would work best is if he basically records the album live with the whole band a la Purple Rain then adds minimal overdubs and thangs. I'm hoping it won't have the (over)production of D+P or Gold Exp but it probably will. Doesn't matter, if the music's great, it'll sound good anyway. And i'd like to hear a really great ballad in basically a jazz trio setting, with Renato on keys. Or Herbie Hancock. But somehow I don't think that's gonna happen.
Take it - like Clarence said:

all different U know."

Of course any would be great, but if I have to choose I'll always take new material over anything else.

Outtakes are cool, but honestly a lot of them are overated. There's probably only a handful that are truly amazing. As for the others, there's normally a reason why they weren't released - they're not as good as what did make the final cut.

Live shows are cool also, but you can never truly recreate the actual experience of being there...

So I'll take new material.

A high quality box set of all the released work so far. Something collectible.

Would be expensive initially but within two months it would be going cheap online from the usual retailers. Hell within a year even the supermarkets could sell it cheap (like they do with Friends/Band of Brothers/Laurel and Hardy/etc).

High quality new material, preferably jazz/funk--exploring new realms rather than pacifying old fans, wink

Out-takes:

1. Purple Music
2. Cross the Line
3. G-Spot
4. Extra Lovable
5. I Wish U Heaven Jam (I love it when he yells out "SING!!!" to the band, who is not singing very well)
6. That Purple Rain Era Instrumental (?) (Not Feline, but the other one - I can't remember the name)
7. Do Yourself a Favor
8. Tick Tick Bang

If you asked me a year ago if I'd rather have new material or outtakes, I would have definitely said new material.

However, given the fact that his last 5 albums have been 'ok' to 'pretty good', but none of them stellar, I think I'll go with outtakes just this once.

I'm curious to know what unreleased material does Prince have that might make me smile from ear to ear. I'm going to assume given the thousand or more songs in his vaults that are unreleased, if even a fraction of those are stellar---that's a lot of potential kick ass music waiting to be heard.

Whatever P decides to release would be fine w/me. I hope he doesn't listen too much to the fams. He should just "do what he do" cool

Let someone else produce. That's the only thing he can do that would make me plunk down money with enthusiasm.

Certainly not a live album.

Outtakes is very appealing, The Roadhouse Garden album would be great.

An album of brand new stuff would be also very exciting as I think he's been on a roll since 2004, 3121 and Lotus Flow3r are for me two of his best albums.

So either would be great

That would worth listening to actually. He's not the "whole" package many people think (his-self included). Who is?
