Help: List of prince pro-shot concerts / tv performances Just watched the emancipation proclmation dvd, which was a pro-shot recording for mtv from paisley park. I just wondered how many more pro-shot concerts there were and tv broadcasts. The only one I know was the musicology staples center which was played at cinemas and the septimo tv broadcast.
Is there a defenitive list, or a site to look at for reference?? J [Edited 1/8/10 11:39am] "Sisters and brothers in the purple underground, find peace of mind in the pop sound!"

I love the rendition of JIR from that gig, watch it many times even though those performances were lip synched.

1985 Purple Rain in NY
1988 Lovesexy in Germany 1987 Sign o Times 1999 Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic I wish that VH1 Classic Concerts picked up the Lovesexy germany concert! Thats probably his best legal concert that they could show on tv.

I think that particular performance was the greatest live rendition he ever did of Joy In Rep. Beyond incredible. The version on the 'it ain't over' cd is histrionic and flashy. I get nothing from it whatsoever. On the emancipation concert his solo is considered, beautiful, soulful and executed masterfully. The ending, in particular, is heartbreaking. Those snarling, distorted bends sound like a stream of pain leaving his body. Then he resolves it with a beautiful cadence. I always saw it as a musical 'goodbye' note. Even his hand gesture at then end re-inforce this for me. Just my interpretation. i wish i had that as an mp3.. i havent heard that in an age. it blows my mind just thinking back to it.. i would wear my tape out re-watching just that performance over and over again.

If I recall correctly, Prince´s guitar and his vocals were live. The rest was not. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Yes, I have to agree Prince's performance of "Joy in Repetiton" during this show was nothing short of incredible. The guitar solo was the reason why I love to see Prince play the guitar, like Hendrix, Prince makes you feel what he is playing.

tell us more about it! is it a full concert? and where recorded? I think I got it through 1-800-NEW-FUNK at the time. It was a video with an interview with Mel B, a version of Beautiful Strange, and then an aftershow. I haven't pulled it out in several years. I know Chaka Khan, Larry Graham, and Doug E Fresh were there. Can someone help with the tracklist and location? I really don't want to suffer through it again to find out! Update: Aug 28, 1998, Cafe de Paris Beautiful Strange Intro, Push It Up(w/ Doug E. Fresh), Jam Of The Year, Talkin' Loud And Sayin' Nothing, Instrumental, Sweet Thing(w/Chaka Khan), Baby I Love You (w/Chaka Khan), Don't Talk To Strangers (w/Chaka Khan), Free (GCS w/Larry Graham), Party Time (w/ Doug E. Fresh), Come On, Mad (w/ Doug E. Fresh) [Edited 1/10/10 12:39pm] TRUE BLUE
