a lot of times, record companies will make promo or pre-release copies of music for the press or radio announcers that dont necessarily go on sale for the general public, you do have a couple gems... THE B EST BE YOURSELF AS LONG AS YOUR SELF ISNT A DYCK[/r]

yea that Goldnigga is a bootleg - i looked at mine and they added stuff that doesnt belong on that Cd. such as Track 2 and the bonus tracks = never heard of them. even the back cover of the cd is different. Mine has Tony in the pink suite talking on a cell phone. That chick isnt even in the picture. So whoever did it changed a few things. But Yeah it's a bootleg.
The War cassette, looks like a true NPG records release. Mine looks the same. Suck theres people out there doing these bootlegs. "3 1 2 1"

The Goldnigga boot is fake because of the "bonus tracks". What's rare is not only finding it, but finding it w/ ALL the original tracks. "The War" on CD is more rare than the cassette, although both are out of print obviously. 1800NEWFUNK sent me the casssette, as well as the NPG Power Pak sampler.

The "bonus tracks" version is on ebay all of the time. If it goes at a 'good' price, then there is a good chance it is a fake. I have the 2nd printing of the cd that I purchased from 1-800-NEW-FUNK (without "Knockin'") and I don't know if I would be willing to spend big money on it. I only like a couple of songs on the cd. It's a bit too much Tony for me. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

But I had a friend who was a member year one, and she used to let me download the files w/ her password (which oddly was my regular email/AIM password at the time - great minds). That's how I got all the digital files. I loved Statik's artwork back then too. So yeah, I missed out on the ONA album.

It was about the "other side" of American History. Remember now, he may have gave the orders to freethe slaves, but it wasn't because he loved them or wanted them to be considered equal to white people. So P referring to Abraham as a racist may in fact have some validity, and not really that hysterical, as you stated. Anyway, don't want to turn this into a P&R thread, but Abe was not exactly accepting of blacks as equal to whites when he freed them, he still had disriminating opinions of them. Show me ANYONE who didn't have racist intentions or ideas back then to some extent. Having said that, making that the status quo, THAT is what we work from. Prince seems to be comparing Mr. Lincoln's ideas to the ideology of today, which of course makes him look racist as all fuck, and makes Prince looks stupid and barking propaganda. It's about perspective. Prince lacks that. He cherry picks the truth with these things, as it suits him. It's the same thing when people cherry pick passages in the Bible, or other literature, to support their cause, opposed to looking at the larger picture. . [Edited 12/28/09 18:27pm]

"I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races [the crowd applauds] – that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people, and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the black and white races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race.”
Abraham Lincoln, 1858 Doesn't sound like propaganda to me Mr.Nelson was telling it how he sees it. I think people need to come in terms with the fact that Abe was in fact a White supremacist,,,,,one funny thing about history, its awfully hard to sugarcoat.

i love call the law and thats about it Even though it's a boot I think it's a great gift...the rest of the tracks might still grow on you, ya never know. I have a copy of Goldnigga from a friend who has the original. IMO Tony is much better doing this type of smooth spoken word rap than when he tried to sound all hard core, LOL! I got 2 War cassettes, (and left one unopened), from NPGMC so that's the real deal although the cd is way more valuable. The War is my favorite Prince song so I keep that cassette in my player in the car. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Deuce and a quarter is the car pictured on the cover. I'm lucky to have the original one with Guess who's knocking, use to listen to it a lot back in the days... "open your heart, open your mind

Thank you Harlepolis, exactly what I meant about Old Abe. Those words in that quote, came right out of the mouth of Old Abe. His own breath pushed those words out and it can't be taken back. His words are documented, and it confirms that he never saw Blacks as equal to Whites, nor did he expect them to hold hands and sing Kumbaya with White folks when he freed the slaves. In Abe's "mind and spirit" he still held Blacks in bondage because he believed Blacks were unequal to Whites, and inferior human beings. Now if that is not Abe having a racist attitude, then slavery never happened. I mean, how do you free a race of people from bondage and still state they don't deserve the same rights or value as other human beings? So yes, Abe Lincoln confessed he was racist in his own words. I'll just leave it at that before this thread gets moved to P&R. [Edited 12/28/09 21:04pm]

[Edited 12/28/09 18:27pm] [/quote] The Abolishionists and numerous anti-slavery folks, Quakers, African slaves, Native Americans, other progressive whites and europeans. In any era of historical evil there are people who are on the right side of history. And so what if Prince is off on a few historical details, you have to look at the overall message. For gods sake, American History books have gotten the "facts" wrong since declaring Columbus discovered America. Why do people get so defensive and worked up by P's political stances? Avalanche is a truly brilliant song. The Lincoln line is meant to shock the senses from years of lazy historical doldrums. By the way, Cornel West is a Prince fan and I trust his analysis of American History.
