not sure I can think of five

1. When Prince called Tavis Smiley "Travis." Perhaps it was an inside joke btwn two good friends but everyone knows Tavis hates that!

2. American Idol. btw I hate that show.

3. not releasing a concert DVD from O2, Coachella, or another one of his amazing shows.

that's pretty much it. Not really worst moments but I guess im nitpicking. confused
[Edited 1/1/10 11:21am]

Actually, I thought the American Idol performance was awful nod

His voice isn't stellar to begin with (albeit it's unique and he knows how to use it), but compared to some of the voices in the competition, it just doesn't cut it. Prince's strength is in the 'performance' and that's where he shines. And the performances was only so-so, combined with a so-so voice, it ended up just looking pompus. I'm glad Simon said what he said about Prince's behavior--it was rather unprofessional, and Simon was in the 'right' to say it. And I don't even watch the show myself.

What did Simon say about Prince's behavior??

Simon found the behavior unprofessional and said as much.
His word's were not terribly acidic, but still got the point accross: http://www.contactmusic.c...30_05_2006

It didn't help that the performance wasn't very good. lol

The first year of the way we are counting was not 1 A.D.
The calendar we use was not created/invented until 1582.

From wikipedia:
The Gregorian calendar is the internationally accepted civil calendar.[1][2][3] It was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII, after whom the calendar was named, by a decree signed on 24 February 1582, a papal bull known by its opening words Inter gravissimas. The reformed calendar was adopted later that year by a handful of countries, with other countries adopting it over the following centuries.
The Gregorian calendar reform contained two parts, a reform of the Julian calendar as used up to Pope Gregory's time, together with a reform of the lunar cycle used by the Church along with the Julian calendar for calculating dates of Easter. The reform was a modification of a proposal made by the Calabrian doctor Aloysius Lilius (or Lilio).[4] Lilius' proposal included reducing the number of leap years in four centuries from 100 to 97, by making 3 out of 4 centurial years common instead of leap years: this part of the proposal had been suggested before by, among others, Pietro Pitati. Lilio also produced an original and practical scheme for adjusting the epacts of the moon for completing the calculation of Easter dates, solving a longstanding difficulty that had faced proposers of calendar reform.
Gregory's bull does not ordain any particular year-numbering system, but uses the Anno Domini system which counts years from the traditional Incarnation of Jesus, and which had spread throughout Europe during the Middle Ages. That is the same year-numbering system that is the de facto international standard today.[5]
http://en.wikipedia.org/w...n_calendar

(My New Year's resolution was to engage in meaningless debates--until the beginning of the next decade...which of course would be January 1, 2011.)

Nobody was saying we started using the current system in 1 A.D. Just that, regardless of the when the current calendar was "adopted," this year is 2010 A.D., and the "first" year A.D. (the first year after "B.C.") is "1," not "0"...

(From the same wikipedia page about the calendar:

[edit] English names for year numbering system
Main article: Anno Domini
The Anno Domini (Latin for "in the year of the/our Lord") system of numbering years, in which the leap year rules are written, and which is generally used together with the Gregorian calendar, is also known in English as the Common Era or Christian Era. Years before the beginning of the era are known in English as Before Christ, Before the Common Era, or Before the Christian Era. The corresponding abbreviations AD, CE, BC, and BCE are used. There is no year 0; AD 1 immediately follows 1 BC.) END QUOTE

Of course that doesn't mean there have only been around 2000 years of our existence, but I assume when we refer to the "new decade," we are referring to the next block of 10 years. And yes, we are arbitrarily starting those blocks of 10 years at the "beginning of A.D."...but that beginning is "1" and not "0" (as is stated on the wikipedia page). Who knows...if we started the blocks of 10 years from the actual beginning of time (if there is one), the new decade could be starting in the middle of a month in 2013.

Simply stated (or not so simply stated), the "second ten years of the 2000s" started today. But the next "decade" (as counted from an arbitrarily stated beginning point of the birth of Christ) begins in 2011.

So....
What's your top 5 list of this decade, so far ? lol

Ah I see... Mind you, I'm glad he didn't do any of the customary stuff! I would have been really disappointed if he had. It'd be a little bit like him participating in celebrity big brother. But then I don't think he should have stepped foot near american idol full-stop!

I don't think he should done the gig at all.
He wanted to use the AI show, a show he was known for disliking, as a conduit to a wider audience---a promotional gig.

And by doing he was quite unprofessional about his behavior. What he did not count on was Simon Cowell speaking his mind about the incident.

Prince should have just steered as far from the venue as possible. It was a lackluster performance, his voice was not in top shape that evening, and it didn't bump his 3121 sales. So it was epic FAIL any way you look at it.

I also forgot about those horrible flip flops with socks. That bitch looked horrible. lol
