Thank you. The only slightly tricky one is "My Name Is Prince". I can still finesse that a bit more I think.

It's almost the same as the actual radio edit version..2 the 9's is 10 times more enjoyable without him in it.Her voice was panned to the left so it was easy to take him out back then..again good job..think I'm going to go edit Q-tip out of Chocolate Box tomorrow..lol

I did something similar once, i just grabbed D&P and prince and removed any and all songs where Mr M. appearead. The only exception being 'Gett Off' cause i can tolerate his one line in that, all the rest.. gone.

I was left with one decent album with lots of nice slow jams, opposed to two otherwise mediocre ones.

I hate that era.

Tony M ruined my high school days, but I survived. I was at the opening night of the Act II tour and when I heard that the Game Boyz were left home, it was one of the greatest gifts I ever received biggrin
When the "NPS" album came out some years later, it was so crappy that I even missed Tony M... biggrin biggrin

Your thread reminds me of a thread that I was thinking of starting so it gives me a great opportunity to ask the question here. Please forgive me if I am hijacking your thread.

Like you and others, I have edited or modified Prince's work to fit my personal tastes or liking. For instance, rarely do I listen to random songs and prefer to listen to songs as a part of the album. But, for me, listening to the album includes the b-sides. Also, I have taken parts of Come, and a couple of songs from Crystal Ball, and have added them to The Gold Experience, using articles and interviews to compile what I think The Gold Experience was originally meant to be. Even now, I have combined Lotusflow3r and MPLS into one album, adding one song from Elixir and "F.U.N.K."

However, once we have made these edits or modifications, is it fair (for lack of a better word) to recommend that album to someone who will not be able to get or experience the album in the same manner? This is not a question about my our your personal tastes, per se, but more about how we discuss art that we have modified with people who will not be privy to those modifications. Though I have a great deal of bootleg material, I never share (copy and distribute) officially released work. So for someone to experience Lotusflow3r/MPLS as I am, they would have to purchase both albums, rearrange them as I have, and add "F.U.N.K."

Additionally, from a purely objective point of discussion, how objective or fair would it be to discuss, compare, or rate a modified album against something by another artist that has been released during the same period? Since I have modified Lotusflow3r/MPLS, how would I engage in an objective discussion of the work that I enjoy in relation to a work by someone else that was released the same year? If I'm discussing with someone the top albums of the year, which Lotusflow3r/MPLS do I list--the official release or my modified version? My favorite cousin likes to joke, "You can't have a debate with a Prince fan about Prince's best album or song because they always throw something in yo' face that you have never heard." So, if you are recommending Diamonds and Pearls or The Symbol Album to someone who has never heard them, which versions will you recommend?

Now, I am going to like what I like, but I always feel a bit disingenuous about recommending an album to someone when what I have is not what they will be able to get. Again, I apologize if I have hijacked your thread, but the detail of your work (edits) prompted me to raise this question.

I saw him on the local news after the Vikings picked up Brett Favre. They interviewed him, his spouse and his little girl after the first Favre game as the crowd was leaving. They put "Tony Mosley" up on the screen, but no mention about his "fame". Just a guy-on-the-street interview more or less. The whole family was dressed in Vikings jerseys.

Maybe he saw the news cameras and pushed some people down to get the screen time, but I'm only speculating.
