The Super Bowl IMO was Prince's best moment, and I would have to say, I was very proud of him that evening. And then to top it off, it was raining while was singing Purple Rain. biggrin

'period' is more fitting.

Super Bowl #1- The mass exposure, and the recognition of him as an american treasure and guitar god. I base this on the reactions i got from non prince fans/friends and family. People who knew absolutely nothing of his talent nor where he had been were floored.I have a friend married to an old school rocker who still gigs, a metal head who is exactly the type of guy who would find prince a joke. The friend, her taste was hair band late 80"s crap-she's an italian woman from the northeast (fugitaboutit lol) so she wasnt feeling prince when he was on top. Anyway they called me, her husband was humbled by prince's playing and kept saying "i didnt know".

R&RHOF #1A- This was iconic, five years later the hall is marketing his performance on the Harrison classic. It was basically one of those forever type performances, once again to the wider audiance-not us. His ticket to immortality was punched earlier in the evening but that solo was just in case you did not believe there was clear seperation between prince and everyone else. Because it was widely viewed by Guitar heads it cemented his standing as an all time axman, a position he should have had if not for his own versitility and self imposed obscurity.

Grammy's with Beyonce #3- My daughter found it poetic that her girl and my guy would mesh so well on stage. It was like a re introduction to the mainstream so there was no other color he could rock but purple. His presence alone had "B" workin like a 5 dollar stripper to maintain some semblence of parity up there and to his credit he played it cool. Most people dont like this appearance but to me it was a big fuck you to the powers that be, Purple Rain in many ways influenced pop culture like Thriller couldnt and you cant take that away from our boy.

Oh yes many NFL people stated that Prince delivered the greatest Halftime show ever and that is traveling around the NFL. Several sports mags/sites stated it at the time.

If you are close to the NFL and people that work for them you will have heard the buzz.
