Favourite One Nite Alone moments Just wondering what everyone's favourite moments of the One Nite Alone tour were?
Mine were: Prince braking into "Don't Play Me". Sweet! Everyone singing along to "Sometimes It Snows In April" One of the most beautiful moments i've experienced. I'm serious! That song about about Caller ID. Is that available anywhere? That ozzy impression! The girl with the beautiful smile standing next to me. Sweet! There were far more, but they'll get me through today! Here are some of my fave moments...
The poem Prince recited in Vegas with the line 'all my friends look older, I still look the same' Hearing 'Avalanche' for the very first time at the Paramount show and being totally awestruck...awestruck at the sheer beauty of his falsetto and those powerful lyrics. Hearing everyone try to sing 'Do You Lie' during the Paramount souncheck. Comedy! Hearing 'Starfish and Coffee' live at the Paramount soundcheck. Being at the Paramount show and seeing the entire place on it's feet, even though I knew they all couldn't be familiar with most of the material. The crowd in Vegas having a dance party in the aisles before the concert even started! Being able to go on stage twice in Vegas! My second row center seats were very memorable too! Lemme stop. I could go on and on! *this is for whoever taught you how to kiss in designer jeans*

The poem Prince recited in Vegas with the line 'all my friends look older, I still look the same' quote] what poem was that? ...something he made up, I guess. Remember near the beginning of the show he called a lady up on stage, had her sit at the piano, and then he sat on her lap? He recited a little poem while he sat on her lap. *this is for whoever taught you how to kiss in designer jeans*

It really suprises me that Prince seemd to mix things up on different nights, in terms of set lists, and on stage antics! The "little poem" in question was actually the song, "Prince and the Band," which they played at the Celebration. I was able to read the lyrics off his lyric sheet on the piano from where I was sitting.
My favorite moment...? Getting to sing "The Ladder" with Prince in Vegas!

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised that the setlist in Vegas was quite different from what I saw in Oakland. I really didn't want to see the exact same show twice! *this is for whoever taught you how to kiss in designer jeans*

Isn't he a tiny little thing? I didn't realize how tiny til I got on stage and was able to stand near him. I'm less than 5 feet tall and were were almost the same height! *this is for whoever taught you how to kiss in designer jeans*

Hearing 'Calhoun Square" at the soundcheck.
Meeting "PurpleK" outside. Talking to Prince.

In the middle of "The Other Side of the Pillow" in Houston, during a Maceo sax solo, he says:
"Make me wanna dance like my uncle!" He then does this ridiculous dance with his arms slightly raised, going in circles, and during one circle pass of the mic, reacting to laughter from the crowd, he yells: "You know you've got an uncle who dances like that -- stop frontin'!" Classic. Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TMATSPodcast/

The entire experience @ the Paramount in Oakland - from the anticipation in line to him walking past me for the soundcheck to the show itsself... UNBELIEVABLE! Soulflower hit it on the head - hearing Avalanche for the first time was incredible. You can't beat the combo of Prince's beautiful voice, Maceo's sax playing in the balcony, & a great song... . 1) Going up on stage in the Buffalo soundcheck to sing backup for Last December
2) Brief conversations w/Prince during soundchecks. In Cleveland, I said "Yo, the Buffalo show was tight last night" and he walked towards me some and said "It sho was." 3) Musically, I would say being at the aftershow in NYC and hearing that killer Joy in Repetition version that we all have and love on ONA live. 4) Buffalo aftershow...hearing Beautiful Strange and Calhoun Square.

The Excitement of seeing Prince after such a long time and him just doing such a Great Show and doing songs from the Rainbow Children and Purple rain was Phenomenal and the aftershow at the World was spectacular. When he did Joy In Repetition and me standing right in front and feeling the Excitement and Intensity of that Song. Tears just Streamed down my face . His Guitar Playing hit my G-Spot and I realized just how Beautiful an Experience being at a Prince concert is.

. [This message was edited Tue Jan 14 18:07:56 PST 2003 by CalhounSq] You're in the bay, CalhounSq? The Paramount in Oakland was amazing. I took my best friend (who isn't hardcore) with me. She was totally blown away by the soundcheck, Prince's show, and the passion of the fans. When it was over, neither one of us could speak. We were so overwhelmed by the show, we just didn't know what to say! *this is for whoever taught you how to kiss in designer jeans*
