It's weird, because I've often started the album with "Love 2 The 9's", skipping "My Name is Prince", and "Sexy MF". Not sure why, but I do that sometimes. It works too. Gives a different vibe to the album. I'm not a fan of the tag ending on "The Continental", and I've often cut that off. Seems clunky and messy. But the rest of the album is great, and Tony has a smaller role than he did on Diamonds and Pearls, I think. If I worked at it, it'd probably be easy to edit his dumb ass out of there.

I totally agree. It's strange u mentioned that u skip "My Name is Prince" and "Sexy MF" because I tend to do that also. I never really paid attention to it until u just mentioned it. It does seem 2 flow better without those 2 songs. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

facedown7 said: yea that Goldnigga is a bootleg - i looked at mine and they added stuff that doesnt belong on that Cd. such as Track 2 and the bonus tracks = never heard of them. even the back cover of the cd is different. Mine has Tony in the pink suite talking on a cell phone. That chick isnt even in the picture. So whoever did it changed a few things. But Yeah it's a bootleg.
The War cassette, looks like a true NPG records release. Mine looks the same. Suck theres people out there doing these bootlegs. Track 2 which contains a re recorded sample of Paul Mcartney's Let 'Em In was removed from the second pressing due to not crediting P Mc.. so it was originally on the album but not on yours. i love call the law and thats about it Even though it's a boot I think it's a great gift...the rest of the tracks might still grow on you, ya never know. I have a copy of Goldnigga from a friend who has the original. IMO Tony is much better doing this type of smooth spoken word rap than when he tried to sound all hard core, LOL! I got 2 War cassettes, (and left one unopened), from NPGMC so that's the real deal although the cd is way more valuable. The War is my favorite Prince song so I keep that cassette in my player in the car. i only have one copy of the war on cassette do you guys think i should open it? No. There are Flac copies ripped from the CD available, so keep the cassette's value where it's at. There is no art to speak of, so no surprises are in store if you open it. Then again, it's yours, so you can do as you please... hell, you could even put it under your bike and roll over it if you so desire. The cassette has no other artwork, whereas the CD had more artwork on the front of it. The content musically is the same. I'm not sure how much value it holds (especially a cassette) if you ever tried to sell it, so it's your decision whether to open it or not. But if you just want the song digitally, find it, and leave the cass wrapped.

daPrettyman said: vainandy said: Nope. And with a title like that, I can just imagine what it sounds like. U might like "Johnny". It is straight 70s funk. I just now heard it and hated it. Too midtempo for me and it just sounds like some talking over a midtempo beat. The only thing saving it from me giving it the shit hop label, is the fact that it sounds like real drums I hear. Other than that, it's got all the other qualifications. Andy is a four letter word.

It's Tony M. that sets is a bit under part (compared to something like Exodus or Come). Despite Tony M's "contributions" to , it still stands as one of my favorite albums too. The segues on Goldnigga are a bit wonky but, like Exodus, if you just cut the out at first listen, you're good to go w/ good music. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it actually. I have a download of "No Black Motherfuckers In The House" which I didn't know at the time was from that album. I was thinking it was an unreleased track until my friend told me it was on that album. The version I have sounds like maybe a live version with an audience in the background and Prince talking to them before the music starts. It sounds decent. Andy is a four letter word.

(The audience is making noise in the background) Then Prince starts talking like a redneck and says something about someone putting their hand on their erection and says they need to put a big black sign on the door that says "No Black Motherfuckers In The House". On the version I have Prince performs the whole song himself talking like a redneck. The music sounded pretty good and I love the fact that he was making fun of trashy rednecks. Prince didn't want to pay Paul McCartney royalties for the non-cleared usage of Paul's lyric. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
