How many different covers for 1999 single? Help!!

Was wondering if anyone could help. I have two difterent 1999 12" vinyl singles. One is the cover same as the 1999 album and it has Little Red Corvette as a double A side. The other is with DMSR as the B side. The cover is of prince in his purple coat standing between two windows.

Why are there different types? And are there more?

Sorry is question sounds dumb lol. smile

I have the 12" of the "1999: The New Master" single. It's on purple vinyl. The actual vinyl label was the same face picture from the CD single. The cover was just a white cover, like a regular white label sleeve with the center cut out to see the record label itself.

It also had a sticker on it. That's the one I have.

Of course the New Master has a picture to itself:

Then there is this one from the 1999 reissue by Warner Bros

The 45 cover I have:

It's a drawing, not an actual photograph.

No, it's a drawing. The original picture still exists somewhere.

It is a photo, because I had a huge poster of that, and it was a longer shot. You could see more of his jacket, shirt, and chest. NO artist is THAT good to make it look THAT real. It might have been pseudo-photoshopped back then, but it's a photograph, to my knowledge. My poster never had the 1999 and "PRINCE" on it though.

I remember someone posting a picture of the original drawing quite clearly, though. Besides, it wouldn't be that difficult to simply cut something off of the original to make a poster out of it.

It's a retouched photograph.

Since this pic precedes Photoshop, the retouching process would have involved airbrush painting and the use of traditional paint brushes. I suppose it's possible to look really closely at it and conclude that it's a full illustration based on the retouched elements.

If it makes u feel better, at that time, they actually had to use a paintbrush to retouch a photo.

Australian 12"

3 different UK 12" singles:

The last one is actually the second part of a double 12" that came with "When doves cry".

2 different US 12" promos:

US picture disc 45, coupled with "Little red Corvette":

I love the Dutch 12" cover...possibly the only on-stage photo of Prince wearing jeans.

The worst 12" cover must be the one for the original French 12" of "1999".
