Take away the intro homage and it sound nothing like voodoo chile. lol

it sounds more like lenny kravitz "are you gonna go my way". shrug

Agree, both great songs. Best in 20 years
totally different to compare.

Lyrics aside, Colonized Mind is an incredible song with outstanding guitar work from P. So, yeah I choose CM but I like Dreamer a lot too.

I like both. "Dreamer" focuses more on social ills that occurred in the past but continues today, and "Colonized Mind" focuses on current social issues but also touches more on evolution and spirituality. But "Dreamer" wins in my book. I often find myself singing the lyrics.

Both great songs in the same vacinity of emotional depth.

..."Colonized Mind's" (frame of mind). contemplates how our human condition occurs.

"Dreamer," discusses history and it's intellectual hopeful contact with equality. cool

Dreamer....even though its a bit close to influence, Colonized Mind is too drawn out and long winded for me...I would have produced this with a bit more emphasis on the verses..I'm not sure what it is but the song just does not have a strong emphasis on vocal delivery..I have to strain to understand what he's talking about...should'nt have to do that. I love the chorus but for some odd reason it just seems the verses don't have enough color. I just think it takes too long to get somewhere.

Dreamer is easily attentive to verse play and lyrics, however it lacks a strong chorus but has a strong musical remembrance to the guitar. I may be rambling but Im going with Dreamer..

Colonized mind.

Dreamer sounds a bit like a demo that was quickly polished for the record. A good tune, but not quite the same thing as Colonized mind.

Both songs have lyrics I gloss over and/or ignore. That said, Colonized Mind is wonderful, musically and productionwise, so I vote for it. I love the vocal arrangement and harmonies on it too. I pretty much love everything about it except for the ironic lyrics.

Another example of an ass trying to put his poison in someone elses thread. A hater at his best. 95% of his posts are just plain nauseating.

I say "Colonized Mind". But, they're both on point and should be used as examples of awareness to the masses. Too many people, just push this off as "another one of Prince's rants", and don't realize that this type of ideals does STILL exist in today's times.

Ernest's views of these songs, reflect the sad nature of MANY Americans. His past posts have dismissed these songs as attempts of "forced" social commentary. Just insulting to come across his pathetic dismissive posts. Just an opinion. Preach on P, some of us understand where ya comin from Brah!!!

I agree. If I pay too much attention to the stupid lyrics, they threaten to sink each song. But if I ignore it, the musical production of each is great--colonized mind edging out Dreamer by quite a bit.

I prefer Colonized Mind by a big margin. The sound and the melody conveys feelings of importnance and profoundness and naturally the lyrics reflects that too. One of his best song in the last ten years.

Dreamer is good too but after the first verse the music loses some of it's vitality.

Prince has got to have THE most colonized mind of any celebrity. What with his patent leather hair, and color-struck mindset...
Loving the irony of that song title.
