Prince & The Clare Fischer Orchestra Live in Concert: What would be your most desired setlist? I guess most of you know that Prince uses the Clare Fischer Orchestra if he wants some orchestration for his songs. I think Clare’s arrangements are really beautiful and fit Prince’s music very well. My dream is that Prince and Clare would do a tour (or just one live performance) together and put it on DVD. Now that would be a nice X-mas present for the NPGMC members! So imagine Prince decided to do a tour with the Clare Fischer Orchestra, what would be your 5 favorite songs you would like them to perform? These are mine: 1. Crystal Ball 2. Condition Of The Heart 3. Mountains 4. Sometimes It Snows In April 5. Scandalous Some others that could easily fit in this context (well, according to me at least…): The Question Of U Love 2 The 9‘s Come Shy Old Friends 4 Sale I Hate U Had U It’s About That Walk Last December Purple Rain Adore Still Would Stand All Time Gold Damn U 5 Women What do you think about this concept and what would be your most desired setlist? RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

This is exactly what I've been thinking it would be cool for Prince to do next. Obviously it would take a lot to setup but it would be so worth it just to hear Crystal Ball live, with full orchestration!!

Crystal Ball would be my #1 choice as well. The whole Parade album with outtakes and movie score material. Imagine hearing all this (and more) LIVE! I Wonder U Venus de Milo Old Friends 4 Sale Do U Lie In All My Dreams In a Large Room With No Light Life Can Be So Nice And let's not forget Pink Cashmere

Elton John did this in the mid 80s with the Melborne Symphony Orchestra in Australia. It was incredible.
Metallica also did it, and it was easily their best tour. It would be an absolute dream for Prince to do it with Claire. I'd love to see it happen in this lifetime- unfortunately, Prince has said that the magic comes from having never met him- so he probably wouldn't do it if it meant having to meet him!

This would be a great way to make next year's celebration really special - a full night of Prince & orchestra.
Then a big-band swing night. A jazz night. A hard rock Hendrix night. A Kirk Johnson 'plastic' night. And, er... That's it.

Wow - what an AMAZING idea! Just the thought of it makes me excited!
I've said on previous threads how much I love the interaction between Prince's music and Clare Fischer's orchestration. They complement each other perfectly. Even though I doubt it'll ever happen, this is one thing I would definitely love to see. Prince? Are you listening??!

Another great album in this vein: Stevie Wonder's 'Natural Wonder' album. All the classics, plus new tracks, recorded with a Japanese orchestra. Superb.

We should e-mail NPGMC about Prince organizing this for next year's celebration. Talk about an incentive to rejoin the club after the ups and downs of this year!!! If Prince and Clare ever did this, I'd hope to hear a setlist like this one: Venus De Milo Condition of the Heart Crystal Ball An Honest Man (instrumental, as in the opening to the movie) Desire Nothing Compares 2 U The One Welcome 2 the Dawn Violet the Organ Grinder -SWANGcandreamcan'the?

Ladies and Gentlemen please welcome another cryptic reply from TheNewWatcher. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Is it just me, or do I remember back in the black and purple prince.org a news item about Clare Fischer dying?
Is this true? All Rights Reserved. |

Is this true? Don't know about that, but I don't think they've worked together since Rave - or at least, nothing has been released since Rave - is that true, or am I forgetting anything?

Yeah, I think maybe Clare passed away. Been a while since I've read it, but didn't it say so in Dancemusicsexromance? Or was that just that his son had taken over business?
Anyway, Prince with live strings is a funny idea, I guess. I'm afraid that my narrow mind would just wish for a reprise of last year's Xenophobia. I just don't think it's possible to do it any better. More of the same, please Prince, only differently!

and of course lots off the Family album - which was their first collaboration i think - imagine hearing Nothing Compares 2 U sounding right for once.

He hasn't passed away, no mention of him dying at his website www.clarefischer.com.
I really think it would be a nice step for Prince to do this collaboration. He could make TV recordings of the show and sell that to TV stations all over the world (provided he plays enough 'hits' like Purple Rain ). Then release a DVD and CD of the concert and maybe even tour the world with Clare's orchestra. In this way Prince could draw a lot of attention to his NPG Music Club and also give people a taste of his new, more jazz-orientated direction. And possibly gain more fans of the type that Prince desires: serious music lovers... RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...
