In reality, she gets up and doesn't blow up the building at all. It's the thought that runs through her head. She's upset because after 9/11, her friends are making fun of her and harassing her for being Muslim. She wants to strike back, and considers giving into the extremists that have given her faith a bad name. We see the bus station (isn't it?) blow up as she thinks about "getting back" at the people who hurt her. But in the end, she chooses life, and peace. | |

good video IMHO...good ol' Kiwi girl Keisha Castle Hughes is the lead role (aside from Prince)...seemingly she never even met Prince (don't know if that is true or not...probably true).....remember her at the Grammy's that year (she was in Whale Rider) - or maybe the year before when they filmed her at the awards meeting her idol Johnny Depp (or was that just on NZ tv?)...
the video got a little airplay on the news here on TV when it was released cos of the Keisha Castle Hughes connection..... that and black sweat were the last videos we've seen from Prince on NZ tv as far as I can remember.... [Edited 12/12/09 2:11am] |

I forget. i think NPGMC released a special enhanced cd single, there was a standard cd single released aswell, the vid was downloadable from NPGMC aswell. She starts 2 change herself (her beliefs) because of of fear from the projected sterotypes of people who believe in her religion. She changes her outside image so she won't be recognized for what she believes in because of judgement and sterotypes. At the end she comes back 2 what she believes in (her self and her heart) I think it also represents she lost faith in her beliefs because of where the "bomb" came from. Kinda like she realized it was not her but a few people, they weren't attacking the people with the bomb but the institution or beliefs of another's. She realizes 2 stand in what she believes beyond fear, she opens the book she knows will free her and show her the truth, which brings her back 2 love. She see's past the lies and motives of man and what she became from fear. She chooses 2 love instead.

She never knew hate/division until 911 She never knew people were separate from 1 another The book she opens tells her "the words" that settle all the scores That show her the truth behind the chaos all around She realizes The 1 again, not what is going on around her Confusion and lies When she goes back 2 the book she see's the truth She is free 2 be herself again and goes back 2 love beyond division or fear Loving means loving the 1 inside her self.
