I think a good example would be the rehearsal for "Bedtime Story". Think it was from 1985 or something.

That song's got loads of piano playing!

Hummnnnn, did a little checking ^ its a bootleg--is it really worth risking my life, limb, etc. 4?

Seriously, Squirrel, you note quite a bit of detail above I know there must be a reason for that -- will this info help me to locate that album?

(I'm not seeking a bootleg just researching.)

Yep. It's a bootleg. The details I posted are from the now defunct DataBank website (soon to be replaced in full by http://thedigitalgarden.org/ ), which reviewed such recordings. Nothing more, nothing less. The decision to find these readily available pieces of Prince history and download them is up to the collector. Prince will never release them, so he's not losing money by the free trade of these audio mementos. In fact, if Prince were to sell them on the consumer level, they would no longer need to be on the black market.

I mentioned the "Revisited" version of Intimate Moments because the source is a little better quality than the previous release. EX- soundboard recordings usually mean there is an amount of degradation due to the generation of the source tape. EX or EX+ would be the best.

It is a cool boot.

There's also a lable and catalogue number -- how can an "unreleased" song have a forml 'catalogue' number?

Most factory pressed bootlegs have catalog numbers and sometimes even barcodes on the artwork. At one time, there were dozens of bootleg entities with hundreds of titles, producing thousands of CDs. It was a fairly profitable business. They had to keep track of their titles as much as the major labels. Probably not for tax purposes, of course.

No. It's an entirely different song.

Prince recorded a demo of "I Can't Love U Anymore" in a hotel room in Australia, while on the Diamonds And Pearls tour in April, 1992. Written for I'll Do Anything, the song is a stunningly beautiful piano ballad, with a delicate falsetto vocal delivery by Prince, who laments the end of a relationship. Capturing the emotion of the lyric, the song has a haunting, plaintive melody. The song is a classic Prince heartbreak tale, addressed to a woman with "no real love in [her] heart." The track has a great deal of potential if the piano demo would become a fully-realized song.

I can't love U anymore
So I'm walking out the door
I can't watch U die like this
When it's in lieu of your kiss

I can't look into your eyes
If I do I only cry
Cuz U seem so far away
I would be a fool 2 stay

Cuz everyday I would be faking
While my heart would just be breaking in 2
Oh, what a bore
I can't love U
No, I can't love U anymore

I can't make U understand
That all the riches in one's hand
Is like an actor without a part
But there's no real love in your heart

U can call me unforgiving
But I just can't watch U living a lie
So that's why I can't love U
No, I can't love U anymore
